| The day had been spent largely like many days before it. It had started with the typical bowl of rice and miso soup, and had included paperwork, some drawing -a daily exercise just to keep the skill in tip top shape - and the usual trip to the grocer. But today was no ordinary day, and a decent percentage of it had been spent in preparation. Greece, Japan's lone time friend, was to be staying over for a time. It was something the both of them had done before - to improve relations mostly – but this time it was strictly without the issue of relations involved. Granted, they would both likely prosper for it, but that was not the intent of the visit.
As much as that unnerved Japan, it was also something he was rather excited about. Having someone visit simply because they enjoyed his company, and that of his culture was always a compliment of the highest regard, and it being Greece, who had so much culture and history, was more than an esteemed honor. Japan had every intent of making his dear friends visit as enjoyable as humanly possible.
But as was normal for him, he found that there were not enough hours in a day. All of it was mostly finished by the time he needed to leave so that he could meet Greece at the air port, but there were a few more finishing touches he would have liked to add. Checking his phone quickly for the flight's arrival time, Japan found nothing to indicated that the plane would be coming in late, and despite his reservations about perfection, rushed out the door as soon as possible.
It took him just under 40 minutes to the airport by taxi, and after paying for his fare, excused himself from the kind elderly driver. Checking his watch Japan found himself to be about 20 minutes early, so he took the time to go through some of the shops in the lively airport and to purchase some sweets to add to the gifts he had already prepared for his guest. That brought the number of gifts to a suitable number. With that done and a sufficient amount of time spent wandering the airports spacious halls, Japan waited patiently as he watched Greece's flight on the monitor. It was right on time.
It would take quite a while before Greece was able to meet him -he still had to get through customs and claim his luggage- but Japan waited patiently at the arrivals area, able to contain his excitement only because it was in his nature not to show such things.

| At long last, it's time once again to leave the Mediterranean for a while and head on towards the Orient seas. It has been quite a while since Greece last when to Japan, and now, that they finally settled everything for him to be able to go there, he was on his way.
He was filled with so much excitement inside and his face made a slight smile as he boarded the plane leaving for Japan. He wanted to bring most of his cats, but he was told that he could only bring so much. To his demise, he just brought one to give to Japan as a gift, knowing that he himself has a liking for the felines.
Different thoughts drifted in his mind, thinking what could possibly happen, what they would do, and how fun it would be. He longed to see once again that rich Asian culture he experienced before, even if the main purpose of his visit before was purely of business. But today, it was different. He wanted to free himself from work for awhile and just take the time to slow things down. And what better way to do that than with a friend you've come to know so well.
During his slumber, he was awoken by the pilot saying that they are already preparing to land in Japan. Just like before, his body surged with excitement yet trying to contain it all as to not look rather ridiculous towards the other passengers. As he gathered all of his things, he ventured towards the arrivals area. He was surrounded by that very distinct Japanese language and nostalgia engulfed him.
He wandered around a bit and suddenly realized he was already greeted by that familiar face. He walked rather hastily towards Japan in excitement and just gave the man a big hug.

| Standing in an out of the way spot at the back of the terminal, Japan easily spotted Greece before the other spotted him. It was not so strange, Greece stood out in comparison to the various other Japanese that scuttled out of the air port terminal. It didn't take Greece long, with that perpetually calm and collected look that usually adorned his face, to find Japan's lofty position. Though by that time Japan had started to make his way over, he hadn't said anything, or waved, but he was definitely on his way to Greece, with a genuinely warm and inviting smile on his face.
When the two finally did get to one another across the crowded terminal, Greece quickly enveloped him in a big hug. The gesture was something Japan still found himself adjusting to; it was still a formality that he had not adopted for his own culture, and didn't feel entirely comfortable with, but he was getting better at it. There was a day when he would have blushed like a bride to be and shoved the other person away, but time had made him more tolerant, more willing to allow this sort of contact. It had seemed like a huge step when he first stopped protesting long ago, but now it didn't seem as difficult to deal with. Who knew, maybe one day he'd even be good at returning them, but that day was still quite a distance into the future.
Japan hesitantly returned the hug, though his arms didn't quite envelop the larger man. A more accurate statement was to say that his arms went around without really touching, and the whole encounter was accented by a few well placed pats on Greece's back. He hope that was enough for now so that the other wouldn't feel that he was being rebuked in any way. It was Japan's intent to make Greece feel at home here, and to make sure he enjoyed his stay, and he hoped that was apparent, even by their first contact of the visit.
After a few moments where Japan couldn't help but feel quite out of place Greece finally pulled back. Japan offered his best smile in response and took a good look at his friend.
"I'm very happy you have come to visit! How was your travels? Were there any problems?"
Japan took a moment to grab his small bag, and from it produced a small jacket. He looked over the garment and then handed it over to Greece.
"I wasn't sure if you knew how cold it would be in this season, so I brought some extra clothes. I think they will fit, but we'll get more if they do not." Japan smiled again before rummaging in his bag once more and bringing out a scarf and knitted hat as well. He offered the scarf to Greece, and before handing the hat over straightened it out and showed it to the other man.
"I thought you might like this, it has cat ear on it, and I have one as well, so we'll match." Hopefully that wasn't to much, but he did want Greece to feel welcome, and the first part of that was to make sure that he didn't freeze in the winter temperatures. It was also a good excuse to give gifts.

| Greece looked longingly at Japan seeing as how he missed him so much. Just the thought that he was finally here in Japan and sharing his time with his friend drew a big smile on his face. He was looking around, seeing as how things have quite changed.
" I'm happy as well that I'm able to go back here. Everything is even more beautiful now than when I last remembered it." Greece said as he was unintentionally looking at Japan. In an escape from awkwardness, he shifted his gaze to his luggages and tried looking for something.
" My flight was okay. Japanese airlines are truly one of the best. I don't think there were any problems at all, maybe because I slept through the whole flight." he answered as he chuckled slightly.
Greece felt the sudden cold rush through his body. He knew that when he got to Japan, it would be much colder than the Mediterranean, but he never imagined it would be that cold. Back at his home, even in the middle of the winter season, it was never that cold. In fact, it was actually warm and it would always be a nice weather to go hiking or exploring. Maybe some day he'd go hiking with Japan when the time comes that he'll come to visit, but those were yet to be planned. He rubbed his hands together in an attempt to keep warm.
His face lightened up when he saw Japan giving him a jacket, and a scarf and a hat to go with. He wore the jacket and was relieved that it fitted perfectly. And as he saw the hat with the cat ears, he was just dying to wear it. He always knew that Japan would be very much prepared for everything, and he never fails to surprise him and make him happy even in the simplest of things. And in that moment, Greece tried to say his gratitude in Japanese that he has studied for quite some time, as he also wants to hear Japan's comments about it.
"D-Domo... Arigato. Uhm, anata wa t-totemo shinsetsudesu. W-Watashi wa shiawasedesu." His face drew a big smile as it was obvious that Greece was already enjoying his stay here even though only minutes have passed since he arrived here.
He was enjoying his hat with the cat ears when he suddenly remembered his present for Japan. With a quick turn, he brought out from a pet cage what seems to be a white cat with a big red ribbon around it and eyes as deep as that of Japan himself.
" When I saw this cat for the first time, I thought about you. And I thought that you would like it since I know you love cats as much as I do. But... I don't have a name for it yet." He gave the cat to Japan, to which it purred. He was assured that the cat liked Japan as well. He'd reserve his other gifts later as a surprise.
He was back to being happy once more about his cat ears hat and how he thinks it's really cute that Japan would have one as well so that they'd match. In his mind, he thought that if they were couples, they'd really look very cute together, and he smiled with a slight blush on his cheeks.

| Japan was very happy to see that the jacket fit Greece perfectly, just as he had hoped. Sometimes it was hard for him to find gifts of that nature that would fit the other nations, but on one of Greece’s previous visits he had forgotten a shirt. Japan had washed the article of clothing and shipped it back to him, but not without taking the measurements first. It was purely for this sort of an occurrence. Secret fantasies of cosplay surely weren't a motivation either....
Greece took the hat and Japan could see how his eyes sparkled at the item. Japan was very happy to see that. Many nations thought his tastes in clothing were a little to over the top, but it was wonderful to see that Greece fully appreciated the item. Japan had seen the pattern in one of his bi-monthly cosplay magazines, and hadn't been able to get the image of Greece wearing one out of his head. Now that Greece was actually wearing it, he was glad that he hadn't given into his sensible side, which had told him right out that it was a stupid idea. As Greece slipped on his Japan reached into his bag and slipped on his own. Now they did match, and Japan couldn't help the swell of pride that filled him. He ever so did like matching! One of the many, many, many small pleasures he had in life.
Greece seemed to be blushing at the matching set of hats, but then his eyes seemed to wander for a few minutes before focusing again. Those beautiful eyes fixed him with a determined look and Greece, speaking Japan's own language, thanked him. Japan's eyes widened, and he smiles brightly. Greece had no reason to learn Japanese other than to impress him, and to show that he truly enjoyed his company, and culture. That, in and of itself was a great honor. Greece had obviously been studying, and Japan would be the first to admit that his language wasn't exactly the easiest for westerners to grasp. Pride swelled within him, and he offered Greece one of the brightest smiles he was capable of.
“Greece-san! You honor me so! It is my pleasure to welcome you to my homeland. I will ensure that you have a wonderful time!”
Greece beamed back at him, and the two stood in the comfort of silence for a few moments, simply soaking in each others presence. Then something seemed to occur to Greece, and he shifted around to grab something from his luggage. What he brought out made Japan's eyes crinkle in affection. A small white kitten with a big red bow looked at him from behind the bars of a small animal carrying case. It was a tiny little thing, but something about the little cat told Japan that it wasn't exactly a kitten either. Perhaps just small my nature? The small animal looked at him with deep eyes, and Japan instantly connected with it.
He looked up at Greece in approval when he happened to catch what Greece had said. Japan's eyes widened and he looked down at the cat once more. He was about to protest - because really he couldn't take one of Greece's beloved cats from him – when he looked at the cat once more. He spared a small, happy glance at Greece, before taking the carrying case from him and putting his face closer to the cat.
“Konnichiwa, Arutomisu-chan.”
The cat tilted its head in slight acknowledgment before bringing up its paw and giving itself a quick cleaning. Japan looked back to Greece and allowed his face to show how pleased he truly was.
“Thank you, she is a beautiful cat. I will take good care of her.”
By that time most of the passengers who had gotten off of Greece's flight had dispersed entierly, and the two of them stood almost in complete solitude. It was nice, Japan though, to just stand and enjoy each other. It took him a few moments, but when Japan finally did speak, he did so with a smile on his face.
“Would you like to go, Greece-san? We can catch a taxi to where ever you would like to go. Perhaps to get some food? I could cook for you as well, if you would prefer to head back to my home.”
There was the issue of the cat, and that very few restaurants would allow them to have the cat with them while they dined. But Japan had been able to get around rules before; he'd likely be able to now if Greece wanted to do that. The decision was Greece's, and Japan left it at that.

| A few moments had gone by and they just stood there smiling at each other. In the simplest way, of just being at each other's presence, Greece already knew in himself that this will be a very unforgettable vacation, not only for him, but for Japan as well. His cheeks blushed slightly as he adored the matching hats with cat ears. He loved how they looked like a couple, which made Greece paint a little smile on his face.
"Japan, were you the one who made these hats yourself?" Greece asked as he was curious to know whether those were Japan's own hand work. Surely he has seen some of Japan's own handicraft works that are very innovative and entertaining. It is only this time that he was able to receive a winter cap from Japan which coincidentally suited his preferences. Most of the time, he would bring most of his clothing necessities on his own. Though he did brought most of what he needs, now was just an exception where he really wasn't expecting this intensity of weather thus rendering him unprepared. And while he was flipping the ears about in glee, it became positive to his thought that it was really Japan's own work for it's intricateness that was evident from his other handicraft as well. Also, he thinks it might have been part of a cosplay outfit that Japan would always love to do, in addition to his affection with cats that could've been the reason behind these cute headgear.
After his attempt to express his gratitude in Japan's mother dialect, he was touched by Japan's reaction stating that he was very honored to be with a culture-enriched person much like himself. And in Greece's delight, he replied, "It is a very gratifying honor as well to be able to speak such a beautiful language and to be able to bear witness to the cultural beauty of the Asian region that is you, Japan... Truly this will be a very extraordinary visit indeed."
Even though the hallways of the airport were already very spacious being that most of the passengers from the previous flight had already ventured in their own ways, Greece did not mind at all. In fact, he enjoyed the solitude. Also, in the very moment that their eyes met during Greece's arrival, it seemed as if they were the only two persons looming in their own moment in time amid all the strangers that pass by them and that their mere presence alone would render their attention unable to be swayed whatsoever.
As for the cat, Greece was pleased that Japan and the cat seemed to enjoyed each other's company even though it wasn't really that big of a concern to start with. And when he heard those words from Japan, he gave a warm smile in response and said, "I know that Japan will take very good care of the cat for he is very responsible and caring. I do not any worries whatsoever. None at all."
A few more moment had gone by and Greece feared that they might be told off for staying longer than they should have. However, the moment was just filled with so much delectation and nostalgia that he perished the thought and just indulged in the moment for the time being. However, it seems that his stomach is trying to point out a different idea otherwise. Luckily, Japan had suggested whether they wanted to eat; just in time before his stomach would protest much more to Greece's liking that might lead him to his embarrassment.
"Is it okay if we could head to your home? I know that Japan;s cooking would be more delicious, and the ambiance would be much more soothing. That is, if Japan would not mind."
Japan has been renowned for his extraordinary culinary expertise regarding flavour and dish presentation that conveys much delicateness and style, and he would love to witness Japan doing so once more. That, and Greece wanted to taste Japan's cooking and be able to visit and see his house and his other cats once again.
