| Tokyo is in decent condition. The infection is there, but in small pockets that are being handled efficiently and effectively. It is the least safe place in Japan to be at the moment, but it is also one of the safest cities in the world for its size. Most of the cities functions are still in perfect working order, though food rationing is a very real possibility in the near future. | |

| Date: December 28th Location: Tokyo Character Japan Infection Status: Uninfected Journal entry number 25,942 The peculiarity of which I have written on before, has begun to be a larger problem. Under investigation we have discovered that it is some sort of infection, or something of the like. We can not be entirely sure as of the moment. We are not yet sure, but I am reassured that it did not originate in my home. The first known case was a small child in Chibu, and after that the accounts are far to numerous in number to go into detail here. I will make a detailed report of it later that I will transcribe here at a later date.
The most common piece of evidence we have through most of the initial cases were bite wounds, be it from an animal, or another person. This can not be confirmed for some of the cases, but for many it seems to be the leading issue. What ever is being transmitted it is spread through fluid contact, this is the fruit of my labor so far.
We are taking caution to deal with this issue as effectively, and as efficiently as possible. We already are performing extensive studies on animals, and those humans poor enough to have already fallen victim to the infection. I am happy to report that I remain hopeful that we are close to a breakthrough of some sort.
Because this is an issue of defense, I have been able to authorize use of the SDF for both population control and boarder security, among other things we are currently hunting down animals that have escaped the initial sweep up, and humans that are unfortunate enough to have become infected. I am happy to report that for now, all is as well as can be expected.
I fear that the rest of the world will not follow in my foot steps in regards to this problem. So from this day forth, the 28th of December, until further notice, the nation of Japan will be returning to isolation. In time I hope to repel this act, but our security takes priorities over such liberties.
For now, I will sleep. It has been a very long, and tiring day, and I still fear for the future of the world and myself. The morning will start with a trip to the Meiji Shrine. If I have ever needed help from the Gods, I fear that I will need it most of all now.
December, 28th ((Japan will stay in Tokyo for a few months/until one of the closer Asians makes a thread. If you would like to arrive, the only way to get close to Japan is by boat, and he will be monitoring his waters very carefully. So if you wish to try, go ahead, but I can not guarantee anything.)) | |

| Date: January 26 Location: Japanese waters Maria Clara Dela Cruz Santiago Infection Status: Uninfected
Clara had been travelling for almost a week now. The journey should have taken 3 days at most but the blasted storm blew her off course and considering a girl of her stature, she could not get the boat to go the direction she wanted it to. Her boat was blown past Taiwan, she was sure of it. The tattered flag of the region waved violently in the air. Philippines did not know if Mother Nature loved her enough to shield her from the outbreak or just wanted some other way to get rid of her. Yet another thing that doesn’t make her work any easier. In fact, she was a few miles near the port in Hong Kong when the the storm broke with winds having other ideas. Damn lack of technology. Her boat was rather old fashioned and highly dependent on the wind. Petroleum was scarce since the Middle East has stopped exporting since the break out. Alternative sources of energy were too expensive so she’s stuck with a century old looking boat. She rubbed at her temples. This was going to be a long trip to wherever. Her supplies were getting scarce but being the ever clever thrifty nation, she had expertly divided the rest of it. Sad to say it would not last for another week though. She needed to find land fast.
No one else had decided to accompany her and she liked it that way. She did not want to endanger one of her own. So in case she dies or gets infected, it’ll just be her. The thought of those things scared her but she was willing to do anything for the survivors. She sighed at the sudden loneliness she felt. The fog was definitely not helping. It made her feel queasy and jumpy, like something may just come out of it and grab at her. The Filipina’s eyes widened and shook her head, quickly dismissing the thoughts. She took a deep breath to even out her breathing.
“I swear I have been watching too much of those scary movies back then.”
She stated and was met by the bone-chilling silence. And this was just like a number of those films. Only it was oh so real. It was a never ending nightmare. She was surprised she still has her sanity in check. Well, she wasn’t entirely sane to begin with. Years under the Spanish reign does that to you. Clara shook her head and smiled at the thought. How could she smile at a time like this? Perhaps she WAS going insane. She looked at the horizon and spotted a patch of what could be land. Clara grabbed at her binoculars and looked. There was a port and there were…East Asian writings. Definitely not Chinese. It was not Korean either. It had to be Japanese then. It looked like she was heading for Japan. She got an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. And no it was not sea sickness. Clara has not seen Japan for a long time. And if he were infected, he would be a tough opponent to face. She found herself playing with the gun on her holster, checking if she had an extra pack of bullets, just in case. She quickly pocketed it as she neared the archipelago. She stirred the boat eastward, towards the capital.
The wind was being awfully cooperative today and is actually helping speeding things up. She’ll get there in at least 5 hours. She grumbled at that and slumped against her seat. Clara was never the patient type. She decides to look through her binoculars to pass the time. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw something move. She immediately sat up, feeling for her Assault rifle while keeping an eye out. It was just citizen, seemingly uninfected. The gun he was holding was proof. No completely infected being was smart enough to even know what that is. She sighed in relief, as expected of Nihon, ever prepared as always. Her relief did not last long, because said citizen was aiming his gun at her boat. Her eyes widened.
“Shit!” She quickly took cover and crawled towards her pack, grabbing at a cloth-like object and tied it up on a stick. She crawled to the porch and stuck the flag up for him to see. The brilliant blue, red, white and yellow of the Philippine flag waved in the air. She hoped the locals would get the message, that she was no zombie, that she meant no harm and that she was a nation with a mission.
