Expansion of the Roman Empire (Rome/India) Empty
PostSubject: Expansion of the Roman Empire (Rome/India)   Expansion of the Roman Empire (Rome/India) Icon_minitimeMon Nov 07, 2011 10:06 pm

The Legions had spent weeks upon weeks marching along the lands of Asia Minor. With every step the Emperor's armies came closer to their prize, and with every body slain they relieved themselves of another block in the way. The lands of which they crossed were once tread by Alexander the Great, and his armies had marched well into the mysterious land of India. A place where the Empire had heard tale of strange animals, colorful flowers, and exotic women. Where the senses would be captivated by the strange sights and smells that prevailed in the air. Sounds of footsteps and the crunching of small rocks under the feet of horses, along with idle chatter were to be heard. The Roman troops had already made it to the border of Northern India, and there is where the terrain became strange. A mountainous region yet filled with sprawling and emerald jungles. At this time in the late morning a light, misty fog was hanging like a curtain from atop the high peaks, and dropping down into the valley below.

So this was the lands Alexander the Great had to flee from? Such a mysterious looking place indeed, and even the air gave off the sense of something supernatural. Without stopping down the winding trails the armies marched on but, their guard was always up. Roma had reminded the men to be constantly on the look out for danger. These new lands he had said were filled with wild, dangerous, and strange creatures that could rip them asunder. Of course all stories of which he had heard about India had been from the Greeks, and those accounts had been from quite some time ago. The call of native parrots rung out through the morning air, and the sound of fluttering and moving branches filled the air. A few of the soldiers near the middle of the ranks looked around nervously, and a few whispered some words about demons. Upon his steed Roma looked out over the heavily forested trail they were on. It appeared to have been marked, and trod upon by people many times before they had ever set foot in this land. While calm on the outside the brunette man was practically giddy with excitement. Yes, this was the sort of challenge he had been searching for all of his life! Perhaps finally Roma was to be faced with a foe who could actually put up a fight for once. Germania had long been named as his bodyguard, and the blonde haired man lost any of the spark Rome adored so dearly.

"We will walk until evening, and only then we will stop. Remember what we were told about this land; always keep your eyes opened for strange creatures, and be all the more weary of the natives." Roma turned his steed around while he spoke, and rose a hand to command his troops to stop. Each one of the men did in perfect form, and looked up at their general. Golden eyes looking down upon the rows and rows of men following behind, the man finally gave a smile.
"I am truly elated to have the finest men of the Empire here with me at this momentous time. To do what Alexander the Great could not achieve." His words held a sort of tone to them of which you would believe every last one. The men did as they looked at one another, and gave a small cheer and laugh. Each one of them dreaming of the treasures to be found, and the spices they could take back home to the city of Rome. Making a clicking sound Roma was able to turn his horse forward again, and started along once more down the winding jungle trail.

In his own mind Rome truly believed he would be the only one to conquer this territory. That the Greeks before him were utter fools, and had no sense on how to command others with an iron grip. Roma had made it an art to expand territory, set up Roman villages there, and gain authority over the barbaric natives. All the while ensuring them a place within the armies of the Empire. That way they would be well paid, well clothed, well fed, and would have not a single complaint there after. With all their philosophy, wisdom, and Democracy Rome felt he saw none of the same intelligence with his Greek counterparts. A small smirk curled on his lips of which no one following him could see. Oh his dearest Hellas, his dearest Mother Greece as she was ever so affectionately referred to. None of her prowess in battle or wit could win her the prize of learning the lands of India. The man had written her letters while on the road telling of his conquests, and even how he too had been able to take down Persia. An Empire of the East whom had given trouble to many Empires to the West of Asia Minor. Yet, when Roma had come upon the desert warrior he found nothing more than a simple stepping stone in the way.

"I will fear not what India has, and I will prove with this conquest that I am the one, true Empire of this world. I have no equal, I have none greater than I. I Romulus am the one true Empire of this entire world, and will prove this again and again, as I lay the bloody and beaten bodies of my enemies at my feet." Rome thought to himself with that smirk only growing upon his lips.
