| Previous PostsAlfred He'd been following the ship for days, since it had left the port. There wasn't anything particularly interesting going on from what he could see, but where there were ships there was always something of interest going on. It might take a while, though. But that was okay, cause there was plenty to see as they travelled. He just made sure to stay close, and not let the ship get too far away. Captain Antonio A storm was about to break out, Antonio could feel it. He shouted orders left and right to his men and made sure everything was doing alright. The sea roared underneath them still calm, but getting angrier by the second. Antonio loved this moments, as much as he found the docil side of the water relaxing, its powerful served to remind him who he was. A simple pirate married to his jealous love the sea. Alfred He could feel the storm. The shift in the water, the calmness that hit before hand before the push and shove of the currents forced him down lower. He stayed as near the ship as he could without risking being rammed into the side. He'd done that once, and it was not an experiance he wanted to repeat. So he went under further, followed the ship as it moved, trying to see what was going on from beneath the waves. Captain Antonio The water moved this time a bit more violent and Antonio had to grab the railing of the ship to avoid tumbling backwards. He cursed in Spanish and shouted to the men holding the sails and putting them down to fight the wind to hurry, they needed to secure themselves before the true force of the storm hit them. His hand grabbed his hat to keep it from blowing away with the wind and he pulled the rope attached to the mast and started putting it around his hips. Alfred The storm was getting rougher, but it would pass, he could feel that well enough. But it would get much worse before it did. He moved lower, and made a wide circle around the ship, reminded himself he had to stay down- but curiousity got the better of him. With the waves as they were, if he timed it right, he could easily see the ship's deck, he'd be able to spot the people scurrying about up there. He'd only done it once before, but it was worth a shot. Taking a moment to feel the waves and where they hit, he timed it, then shot up, Letting the current push him, he was able to break the surface and follow a wave as it nearly crashed over the rail of the ship, spotting the humans, before he was pulled back down. Captain Antonio A big wave crashed against the side of the ship and this time it did send Antonio crashing to the ground. He yelped and tried to grab onto anything, but the rail was too far and the simple knot he didn't finish doing around his waist broke. The rope went flying from his hand and his eyes widened for a moment, time seemed to stop as he realized he had nothing else to grab before falling. The wind carried him and slammed against the rail once, his back cracked and he shouted in pain but still couldn't grab on to the wood, too disoriented to even try. Next thing he knew he was falling backwards backwards to the water, and just like that the waves engulfed him. Alfred He had just sunk back into the water when he spotted the human. Al didn't act at first- he just swam in place and watched. It was generally best not to assist humans, they were dangeorus... but, Al had never been good about following the rules that had to do with humans. So after a moment of watching the human flounder around, flailing and likely running out of whatever air he still held in his lung, Al shot forward to grab at him. He clutched at the mortal's arms and pulled him up towards the surface. His tail working hard to carry the added weight, they broke the surface with some trouble, and it took effort to keep the other's head above the waves, as well as to keep them far enough away from the ship to avoid slamming into it. Captain Antonio He didn't breath the water in or tried to struggle against the tides. He was no fool, no amateur mariner; he knew the sea, he knew that if he thrashed and moved the waves would mercilessly take him back down. He knew that if he tried to breath his lungs will just fill with cold liquid death, slow and painful, and really who wanted that. He used up the air inside his lungs slowly, trying to calm himself and opening his eyes to see below the turbulent surface. He needed to come back up that much he knew, but he needed to do it at the right time, otherwise the water would just send him down again. When the last bit of his air ran out, he took it as his cue to swim upwards, his palms breaking the water above him, and then he felt it. Something grabbing him by the arms and pulling him up. He almost fought back and gasped, accidentaly swallowing a big gulp of water, as soon as they broke through he began coughing, trying to expel the water and fighting eagerly for air. Alfred Once he was sure the other was able to breathe, and hold himself up, Al loosened his hold just a bit and let his own head duck under the water, before readying himself actively to breathe both air and water- never an easy task since it required a lot more thought. He kept their heads above the water for most of it, kept his grip just tight enough to keep the other from being pulled away from him, and when the storm finally began to settle and pass, When it was safe enough, he left go of the other, and ducked down a bit, until just his eyes and the top of his head were above the water. He put just a bit of space between them, and watched the other through blurry vision. Captain Antonio At first he thought it had been one of his crew members rescuing him, but that was odd. They would look for him sure, but they wouldn't risk his lives for him, at least not the older and more experienced ones. They wanted his position and that was better gained if he was dead. He tried to focus enough to look at the man that had pulled him out but his vision was still blurry and water covered his pupils. The only thing he saw was a strand of bright blonde hair. He swam back a little to get a better view, and rubbed his eyes. His ship was just right there, and it seemed a part of the rail was broken, and a few men were clinging for their lives on it, slowly getting back on deck. He shouted at them to throw rope or anything so he could get out of the freezing water and finally turned to look at his rescuer. Nop... not from his crew, never seen him. "Muchas gracias señor. Le debo la vida." He gave a small bow and then smiled warmly. Alfred He flinched a bit as the other yelled up for the people on the ship, drawing their eyes to them. Blinking at the human, Alfred lifted his head a little bit, and tilted his head. He didn't know what those words meant. His grasp on human languages was essentially a broken form of English, which he didn't think would help him here. He lifted his head so it was fully out of the water, blinked a few more times, then parroted the others words, "Muchas graci seño." | |

| He blinked and stared at the man in front of him for a few minutes, before the strange accent the other tried to imitate sent him into a fit of laughter. Well, it was clear the man was foreign, but from where Antonio could not say. He didn't have the soft drag of the tongue those foolish Brits had at the end of every word. So maybe the new world? He had heard that accent was different, rougher, without that pretentious tone the English had. Oh but what did he know of languages. His beautiful tongue was the only one that made him happy. All others, the French, the German, the English he knew in bits and pieces only served his job. When he was done laughing he gave a small bow and a toothy smile to the man and then spoke, his English heavy with Spanish accent. "Thank yu Mister. Yu saved my life" | |

| The man laughed, and Al moved back a little more, eyes wide with surprise. Why was he laughing? Had Al done something silly and not realized it? Likely so...
Leaning slightly to the side, Al blinked at him when he spoke again. This time, the words were familiar, though the sound of them was not like it usually was. Like there was something very off about them. He couldn't pinpoint it, though, and since he did understand them, why bother trying? He offered a wide smile, then ducked down so his mouth and nose were covered by the water again, staring for a long moment before sliding under completely.
He went deeper under the water, swimming beneath the pirate so he could come up behind him, then circling around him, just the top of his head over the water, eyes opened so he could see the man's clothes more clearly. When he did pop his head back up, he was in front of the Pirate again, just a few inches away from him, "Y' should n't be in the wahter..."
His own words were a bit odd. It had been months since he'd last uttered a human word. He could hear the mistakes in his own words, and it bothered him, but he let it slide. As long as the other could understand him, that was all that mattered.

| He watched the other disappear under the water then come up behind him. It surprised him, the sea was still moving fast and angry against them; how could someone gain enough control to fight against the waves was beyond him, even after spending more than half of his life in the sea.
When the yellow hair poked above the surface again, Antonio was still staring; his mouth slightly open in surprise even though he was adamant to not let it show. It took a bit of concentration to decipher the words coming out of the man's mouth, but when he did, he frowned. "Yu shouldn't be here either"
The rope sent by his crew touched him on the back, and he took firm grasp of it, ready to support himself against the side of the ship and climb up. He had wanted to invite this man on board, after all he had saved his life; but now he was not so sure. Jealousy was a negative emotion when making acquaintances, and there was always the possibility that this man was a spy from one of his many enemies. "Where do you come from? What ship? Who sent you here?" He was often accused of being oblivious, well now he was going to be paranoid, seriously he had never seen someone swim like that.

| Al gave a sly, knowing grin as the other pointed out that he shouldn't be in the water either. But really, that didn't suit him either, that grin, so it slid away easily, and he tilted his head back a bit, eyes slightly unfocused.
When the rope came down, Al swam back a bit, and ducked down a little again. His gaze went up though, locking on the men peering over the edge of the ship. They were a curious sort, he thought, but then. Any human was a curiousity to Al. His gaze slowly slid back to the man in the water with him. Those questions he asked, they were confusing, and it showed on Al's face.
"Where..." He looked around. "Here."
The other questions were just as confusing. But harder to answer. What ship? Al had never in his life been on a ship that wasn't already sunk. He'd seen plenty of ships, and followed a lot of them, but he'd never been on one. "Who... who who?" His head cocked to the side, and he blinked at the man a bit owlishly.

| He was confused, almost as much as the other looked. Maybe his English had not been clear enough, and the other had not understood. Or maybe the other had escaped from some terrible fate, maybe he had been prisoner of another Pirate ship or maybe he was being persecuted because of his religion and he didn't want to mention any of this things, Antonio had seen many of those. He reached forward and grabbed the man by the shoulder, putting a gentle yet firm grip on it and looked at him in the eye, smiling as he did so.
"You saved my life. I can offer you a place in my crew as thank you." He was being sincere, as much as part of him hated this man for having skill that Antonio would kill for, he recognized when he owed someone a debt and this was one of those occasions. He wouldn't be worthy of calling himself captain if he didn't properly repay those that had honored him. "If you wish, we could also drop you on the nearest port, I have gold, jewels, anything you want in thanks. Just name it and If I'm able to provide it, I will."

| If he'd been confused by the questions, Al was even more confused by the touching and the offers. To a human they might have meant much, but Al didn't know what gold was, not by name, and while his curiousity urged him to say yes to coming on board, his caution towards groups of humans reminded him how dangerous that could be. He tilted his head, then looked back up at the ship, "... No."
His gaze drifted back to the pirate, and he offered a smile, "Too... dry?"
He moved forward a bit, closing a bit more of the spave between them, letting his tail brush against the pirate's legs, before moving to the side, and sinking down a little, "You should get out of the water..."
It wasn't a threat, or even a real suggestion, just an observation. His eyes straying after a moment to the pirate's coat, then drifting away, "Your ship broke."

| He wasn't used to being refused anything, least of all when he was the one offering it all. He looked curiously at the man, as if trying to decipher his expression or anything really, but as per usual, he found nothing.
"...to... dry...?" He kept his smile in place as he rolled the words around, what did they mean. Too dry? Well, no, boats were always too wet actually. He didn't back away when the other got closer, completely used to physical closeness with anyone, including strangers and just surveyed the other, his blue eyes and his pale skin.
The slight brush of something strange against his leg made him jump backwards against the wood of the ship. And he blinked looking down and trying to see what it had been, an animal perhaps... or something worse. People always said this waters were inhabited by many creatures a human would be very unlucky to encounter. He made the sign of the cross over his forehead then kissed the rosary around his neck and sighed; a puzzled expression painting his features.
"My ship is not broken..." Looks back just in case to confirm. "Are you saying here then? It's dangerous, there is nothing but water for miles and miles"

| Al ducked his head under the water, for a moment, then came up to look at the pirate with clear confusion. His head tilted to the side, and he swam back a little bit. "Water..."
Disappeared under the water, he circled for a moment, before coming up near the ship, resting one hand on the smooth wet wood, "I am... happy here?" He tilted his head, "You are... not safe here."
