He couldn't even have described the happiness he felt when his patient and courteous advancements were rewarded. Though Gilbert's presence had him feeling more confident and alpha-ish than usual, he'd still been a bit worried that his slow manner of courtship would be poorly accepted by the omega, who seemed to be used to faster and carefree lifestyles. But it was going well, and for that, Arthur was glad. Gilbert was hesitant, skittish, maybe. But he wasn't shunning him or laughing at his attempts and that signaled Arthur that he was alright to proceed.

He squeezed the omega's hand when Gilbert took his, finding his shyness to be unbelievably endearing. It made Arthur want to hold him close and kiss him and cuddle him all the more. He would have never before last night have thought that Francis's loud and boisterous friend was capable of such shyness, but here he was, blush spreading over those china-doll cheeks. Arthur couldn't help it any longer. He leaned over and pressed a feather light kiss against Gilbert's pinkened cheek, squeezing his hand again as he did and nodding in response to the other's words

"Shall I give you the bed?" he asked in smooth, dulcet tones. "Or perhaps you should take Francis'. For the first time, it's actually the cleaner one."

The blush deepened and spread at the kiss, feeling this kiss was somehow far more intimate then any of the sloppy, sexual kisses from the night before. He couldn't help leaning into it though, when Arthur drew back from the kiss, he rested his head on the Alpha's shoulder. Listening to him, and glancing across the room at Francis' bed. It was true that Francis' bed was likely much cleaner then Arthur's, and in the past, if he was spending the night in this dorm, he would have opted for Francis' bed. He knew the French Alpha's scent, took comfort in it usually, having grown used to it being a scent that generally accompanied safety and comfort. He'd learned that early on in their friendship. But now, it didn't feel appealing- which it should.

If he moved to sleep on Francis' bed, he knew he'd get enough of the other's scent in him to clear his head from the lull that Arthur's very presence had instilled in him. And a clear head was certainly something he needed, something he should want. Even so, he couldn't bring himself to be much interested in the bed. He made a soft, "Hmmm..." sound, before turning his head to nuzzle closer to Arthur. Really, this behavior was horrible, and he'd hate himself for it later, but it seemed to come almost naturally, so he let it come.

"'M not moving." He murmured, becoming increasingly aware that his legs and arms felt heavy, and his eyes, still hurting a bit, refused to open again. The smell of Arthur, the warmth coming off him, it was all far too inviting for Gilbert to justify moving, even if it was for to sake of a bed that didn't smell like sex.

His smile widened, his eyes full of affection for the omega. He'd guessed, that in the interest of sleep, Gilbert would have taken Francis' bed. He was happy to be wrong. Another first.

As Gilbert leaned on him, Arthur leaned back, nuzzling his face against the omega's soft, pale hair, taking in the clean smell of shampoo as well as Gilbert's own pure smell underneath it. The smell made him feel whole, filled him with peace and contentment. Maybe it was a sign that Gilbert was going to have too much power over him, that he could make him this happy just by choosing to stay rather than leave for the other bed. It could mean he could break him just as easily. But Arthur didn't think that worth thinking about.

He kissed the crown of Gilbert's head and nuzzled him again. He shifted his hold on Gilbert's hand from his right hand to his left, letting their hands rest on his lap while he slung his now free arm around the omega, holding him close and rubbing his side. He wanted to tell him many things then. How beautiful he was, how warm he was, how good he smelled and how happy he made Arthur. But even in his head, those all sounded like cliche words for such an infant relationship. Like something out of a cheesy love at first sight romance movie. So he restrained himself and instead just answered with, "Hmm... I guess you'll just have to sleep like this then...." He sighed happily, caressing Gilbert's waist, and began to hum a low, sweet melody to the tune of Greensleeves, for it was the first that came to mind.

Nearly melting into the affection Arthur offered, Gilbert's mind was already starting to swim inbetween conciousness and sleep. He didn't think much of how easily and quickly he reacted to everything about Arthur. He'd already pushed away worries about how dangerous this relationship could be if it effected him so strongly on just the first day, hell, the first morning. He'd never reacted to any Alpha like this, but couldn't bring himself to think on it anymore then he already had. He turned slightly, pressing closer to Arthur, and curling his legs up a bit, he nuzzled against Arthur again, absently pressing a kiss against his throat.

Driting in and out of sleep, Gilbert hummed softly in answer, though he didn't think one was needed. Obviously he wasn't going to move, or go elsewhere, so it was up to Arthur whether or not he was used as a pillow. Gilbert wouldn't complain in the least. He stayed as he was, after a moment or two finally giving in and falling fully asleep, leaning more heavily on the Alpha.

He shifted just a bit to allow Gilbert room to curl up more comfortably, smiling and continuing to hum as the omega settled in at his side. Every little thing that Gilbert did, from the gentle and affectionate nuzzle to the soft kiss to his neck sent a wave of pleasant warmth through the Alpha and made him feel proud and protective and over all thrilled with the way things had turned out. It felt too perfect, Gilbert's hand in his, the way their breathing synced up, the speed at which they had taken to each other. This had to be destined to work out.

He was getting ahead of himself and he knew that. But it was hard not to. He was not used to these sorts of emotions and it was easy for him to get swept up in them. They had not even been dating for 24 hours yet, and already Arthur picturing the times they would have together, visions of Gilbert smiling, laughing, grinning cockily all splashing across his mind's eye and each spawning that same sense of affection.

He had no intention of moving. If Gilbert didn't mind sleeping in this position, Arthur certainly wasn't opposed to it, though he was unlikely to be sleeping himself. He hadn't slept as much as he could have by any means, but he simply was not tired enough to sleep now. He continued to hum his song, lightly brushing his fingers along Gilbert's side, until he felt the omega's breathing slow to a steady pace to indicate he had fallen asleep. Carefully, being sure not to disturb him, Arthur reached over to the end of his bed and grabbed his book, opening it with one hand and laying it on his lap to read, his head tilted to rest against Gilbert's.

He didn't really monitor the time. It was such a peaceful moment for him that he didn't want to tarnish it with thoughts of the classes ahead or of the one he had missed. It had been over an hour for sure, when he had to shift and stretch his shoulders to keep them from getting stiff. He'd stolen many glances at Gilbert during that time, watching him sleep and smiling serenely to himself. It was so ridiculous how attached he was already. Even now, he couldn't resist pressing a small kiss to the forehead of the sleeping omega.

Sleeping curled up like he was, likely wouldn't be a good idea. Later on, he'd have an ache in his back that would make itself very well known when he had to start studying. But he'd never slept quite so soundly before. Arthur's scent, the warmth that exuded off of his skin, and the affection he showed, the sound of his voice, and even the soft turning of the pages of his book were so painfully comforting that despite the ache in his neck, Gilbert couldn't have complained. This didn't mean he wouldn't, likely he'd rant and be furious with himself later, when he'd gotten away the intoxicating Alpha and had time to clear his head. As it was, there was little he could do but soak up the other's presence, and enjoy the sense of safety he hadn't gotten from anyone or thing in a long time.

It was the kiss that started his waking. Just a light little brush, but his brow furrowed, and in an attempt to go back to sleep, turned his face into the Alpha's shoulder. But the damage was done, and he was going to wake up whether he wanted to or not. Keeping his eyes closed, he tilted his head, left it resting against Arthur's shoulder, but otherwise began a process of stretching out. There was a quick moment of panic, just a stab of fear given where he was and the unusalness of the situation, but it slid away too quickly for him to grasp at it. Unwilling to stay as he was, he finally pried his eyes open, ignoring the stinging they retaliated with, and sat up slowly, rubbing at his face.

He knew he couldn't have slept long, since Arthur was still sitting there with him, and he was still feeling so exhausted. But that was enough sleep for now, he was awake enough that he wasn't too worried about falling asleep in class later that day or even being too tired to pay attention. He did plan on getting some coffee before class, though. Something packed with caffeine, and probably a bit too sweet for his tastes to wake him up fully.

Gaze flickering to the book, Gilbert sat back against the wall and let himself lean against Arthur's side again. It was an odd thing to enjoy, but he found himself liking this, just sitting side by side. It felt like a safe zone, between his warring desires and fears. "What are you reading?"

He hadn't meant to wake Gilbert up, though he supposed it was for the best. That couldn't have been a very comfortable sleeping position to maintain for very long. And they both did have places they needed to be eventually. Plus, there was no telling when Francis would wander his good-for-nothing and likely hungover arse over there, and something told Arthur that neither he nor Gilbert wanted their relationship to be found out in quite that way.

Watching as Gilbert stretched and opened his eyes, Arthur greeted him with a smile and a bit of a laugh. "Good morning again." He marked his place in the large book and flipped it over in his hand so that Gilbert could see the cover. "The Grapes of Wrath. For my American literature class. Not my favorite, by any means. Bit wordy. But it's not too bad." He set the book down on his lap and though his arm was feeling a bit achy, he left it were it was, around Gilbert. "How did you sleep?"

American literature was something Gilbert had never been all that interested in. He had read a few books by American authors, sure, but always the copies translated into german. Reading in English was something he did as little as possible- and living in a English speaking country meant he still had too most of the time. Rubbing at the back of his neck to try and soothe away the ache that had formed there, he offered a smile back. "I slept fine. Danke schon."

Glancing around the room, his gaze landed on a clock, but his vision was too blurry to make it out. Didn't matter, it would probably be best if he left soon, regardless of the time. There were things that had to be done, and preferably before he had to hurry to class- which he would have to do whether he left right this second or not. Gilbert could be on time for most classes, but today he had a feeling he'd have to ignore that usual punctualness. It wouldn't hurt anyway. "I should probably go..."

He sighed, tucking his book aside. "I assumed as much. It is getting on in the day." He finally dislodged his arm from around Gilbert, rolling his shoulder to work out the stiffness. He pushed away from the wall and scooted to the end of the bed, sitting on the edge and turning back to Gilbert with a smile. "I did really enjoy having you there, though. Friday is going to seem like a long way away after you leave." Good lord he was becoming such a sap. And it came so embarrassingly natural, too. He was starting to feel like he belonged in a Shakespeare play.

He stood and stretched his back, arching and lifting his arms above his head. He really was going to have to hustle today to make up for lost time with his schoolwork. And for the rest of the week in order to have everything done so that he could enjoy their Friday date without any school stresses bothering him.

But even though he had things to do, he could not help but make the offer. "Would you like me to walk you back to your dorm?" It was a mix of alpha protectiveness and the lingering desire to be near the omega that made him ask.

Trying to stifle the sense of loss that hit him when Arthur moved away, Gilbert forced himself to get up as well. He offered back a small smile in return to the one the Alpha gave him, and bit at the inside of his cheek to keep from blushing again. The level of submission, of 'omega' that he'd been displaying had been a bit too much for him. Even if they felt so right. He was at a loss for how to respond to Arthur's words. It pained him to think of being too cold or abrasive now, but he didn't want to be needy or overly attached like he had been. "Luckily, it's not too far away."

Which was true, and the easiest way he had of not really admiting that he needed that time to think. The feelings Arthur invoked were new, and frightening, and though they felt right, they also set off all kinds of triggers that told Gilbert to run and hide. He simply hadn't given into those urges, and at the moment, had no intention too. They were scary, but so far, the Alpha was a curiousity, and the way he made Gilbert feel was just as good as it was scary. He was almost tempted to ask Francis for help figuring it out, he was always good at dealing with emotions.

Standing up from the bed, and stretching again, arching slightly, and rubbing at his neck, Gilbert thought over his path home. He could usually get back okay without much problem, but it had been a while since he'd had to make that trek back to his own dorm without his glasses or contacts, and with his eyes burning and vision blurred, he wasn't so sure he could make it all alone. Not that he'd admit it. He probably could do it, without too much trouble, if he really felt risky... but he was dressed in Arthur's clothes, and had soaked up enough of the Alpha's scent that it would likely take a few showers to get the scent off. Walking around smelling like an Alpha, but not being mated, could be dangerous, especially if he was alone, and their relationship was so new. "I... I'd appreciate that."

Not because he was afraid, of course. Just because he refused to get someone tailing him over Arthur's scent being on him, while the Alpha was safely hidden away in his dorm reading. Right.

It's true that the omega dorms were not that far away. Just across campus, just far enough away that alpha's shouldn't need to walk past it to get to most of the places they would need to go. But since Arthur had not bonded Gilbert (that was far, far too soon) and Gilbert smelled so strongly like him after all these hours together, he would be lying if he said the thought of Gilbert walking to his dorm alone didn't have him concerned. There were many alpha's out there who were far less gentlemanly than Arthur was, those who would make catcalls at Gilbert just because he smelled of an alpha. It was a dominance display among alphas to challenge the claims of their fellows. It was outdated and barbaric and all in all just stupid. But there were still those who felt the need to target and touch just because another alpha had been there.

He didn't think Gilbert was the type to be a pushover and let himself be treated in such a way. But he still felt better when the omega accepted his offer, especially since he had been almost sure that he wouldn't. He had somewhat suspected that Gilbert would want some time to himself to take in all that had happened. Arthur was somewhat dreading that moment himself, when he wasn't in such close proximity to the omega and his senses would return to him. He'd probably think himself an idiot for moving so quickly and for being so damn cheesy the whole time. He wondered if it would always be like this, if he would always default to that alpha role when Gilbert was there. It felt good, doubtless. But that wasn't how he always was. He supposed he would settle down once he'd gotten more used to the smell and presence of the omega so that they would no longer be so overwhelming.

He gave a slight smile and a nod and looked about the floor to find his shoes, grabbing them upon locating them and turning towards his drawers to fetch a clean pair of socks. "I have a class that I"m afraid I really can't afford to miss coming up, so we should probably get a move on."

"Ja, that's fine." Gilbert followed Arthur's example, grabbing his sneakers and pulling them back on, before gathering up his dirtied clothes from the night before, bundling them up and tucking them under his arm. They still reeked of sex, but it wouldn't draw much notice, not being out in the open and with Arthur's scent mingling with his own already. Or, that's what he was hoping for. Once he was in the omega dorms it wouldn't be a problem, no one ever gave him any trouble there. The few omegas who were willing to pick fights with others (and it did happen, though he knew most Alphas didn't think it possible, but Gilbert had suffered more assaults from other omegas then he had from rough Alphas), and Gilbert had basically established himself as a tough contender with the few who could be a threat.

He double checked to make sure he had his contacts, wallet and keys, then waited by the door for Arthur. His eyes were starting to hurt again, but there was nothing to be done, and it was already fading into a dull annoyance. He stopped straining them, letting himself fade into the blur that was the world without glasses or contacts, and made a note to go with the glasses today. Even if he despised them completely.

Lingering by the door, he picked at his hoodie's sleeves a little nervously, and let himself lean against the wall. Eyes closed, and head bowed slightly. Still tired, but otherwise alright, he figured he was mostly set for the day. Though he was really trying to decide if that class he had today, the only one today, was really worth all the fuss of going. It was, he knew, but skipping one couldn't be that big of a deal... right?

He sat down at the chair by his desk to put his shoes and socks on and then stood to meet Gilbert at the door. Upon reaching him, Arthur met with a sudden and full on whiff of sex and arousal, enough to make his head temporarily swoon and make him want to tug Gilbert back to the bed for another round. But he shook it off. There was a time for everything, and now was not the time for that. He was not going to allow this to become just about sex. He refused.

Acclimating to the smell and knowing he would be hit with it again when he returned to the room and would be reintroduced to it from the dirtied bedclothes. He was going to have to do laundry for sure when he got back or else he was going to be thinking about his night with Gilbert the whole time he was supposed to be studying. Though perhaps he would leave the pillow that Gilbert had slept upon unwashed...

He opened the door and let Gilbert out first, following after and locking the door. The smell of other alphas surrounding them in the hallway made him nervous for perhaps the first time, and he found himself slipping his arm around the omega and holding him close without much thought put into the action. He was just going to have to remind himself to give Gilbert a bit more space when they were free from the alpha dorms and there was less of an immediate threat. He started them down the hallway. Courtesy dictated that he should ask Gilbert about a preference for stairs or the elevator, but Arthur decided that faster was going to be better in this situation, and went ahead and pressed the button for the elevator, trying not to think about how they'd begun making out in it the night before and how nice it would be to do it again.

Gilbert didn't think too much on the scents of other alphas in the building, though it surely would have been impossible if he had stepped out alone. He normally didn't find himself in the alpha dorms, his trysts usually took place elsewhere and if he was here in the morning it was normally after camping out on Ludwig's floor, so he was safe to come and go as he pleased with little concern. Now, with Arthur right there, he couldn't bring himself to consciously worry about it. Besides, his pride wouldn't have allowed him to show it. A display of weakness here, of all places, would be catastrophic.

Even so, conscious thought and instinct were different things, and after all the freedom his instincts had been allowed the night before they weren't quite ready to disappear again so easily. Gilbert would likely spend the next few days pushing them back into the box he had locked them in back when he was younger. For now, he hardly noticed how he shifted and leaned into Arthur's side, just like any other omega would have.

He didn't even consider the stairs. It would have been his usual choice, but he felt particularly unbalanced, the stairs posed a threat they normally wouldn't. So he entered the elevator without a second thought. Unlike the night before, he didn't back himself into the corner. There was no reason to shy away from Arthur's scent like he had before. He stayed pressed against the Alpha's, careful not to lean on him or seem too intent on their closeness. Even with his instincts somewhat in charge he wouldn't allow himself to become puddle needy goo some omegas became.

He was glad that Gilbert didn't shrink away. He'd been worried that he would now that their - well he guessed it was technically a date - was coming to a close. His arm remained around Gilbert as he pressed the button for the ground floor and felt the elevator shutter into movement. Closed off as they were, Gilbert's scent was strong in his nostrils, but unlike the aroused smell that now soaked his dorm (which would no doubt get Francis's attention) it was a clean smell - Gilbert's natural one. It was quite nice too, though a bit hard to describe. He had to resist the urge to lean closer and breathe it in.

The elevator came to a halt and he walked Gilbert out the short distance to the building exit, glad that they managed to avoid running into anyone. Not that he himself cared if anyone knew he'd been with Gilbert, but he aimed for discretion for Gilbert's sake. Once out the door, he removed his arm from Gilbert and allowed the omega to distance himself as he may please, offering him a small smile.

As soon as they were out of the building Gilbert found himself relaxing just a bit. The air was fresh, and unless others got too close, they wouldn't being able smell the stench of sex coming from the clothes bundled at his side. Gilbert was less worried about what people thought of him- he was known for being a troublemaker and fairly loose. Arthur, however, had a good reputation- is a reputation at all. So even though he wanted to reach out and pull the Alpha back, he opted not too.

He did smile back, though. He was still a little uncertain about everything, this whole concept of dating was just foreign to him; but he didn't want to ruin something that felt like it could be a very good thing, before it'd even had the chance to start. It took him a second to get his barings, having let Arthur lead him out of the building, but once he got them, he started on the quickest way to the omega dorms.

"What do you plan to tell Francis? You'll probably run into him before I do." Unless Francis had crashed at his dorm, which was possible. But on the chance that he hadn't, Gilbert wanted to know what Arthur planned to say. He, himself, couldn't lie to Francis, doing so didn't sit right with him, especially not after everything the French Alpha had done for him in the past.

He shoved his hands into his pockets as they walked, which he figured was the best way to keep them to himself and resist the urge to put them around Gilbert again. He matched the omega's pace, passing sideways glances at him as he walked by his side. He shrugged at the question. "Hadn't really thought about it. The truth, I suppose. Though he should figure it out the moment he walks into our room." With his classes, Arthur would have zero time to clean up before Francis wandered back. He honestly didn't know how the other alpha would react to finding out Arthur had spent the night with one of his best friends. He very well might be angry, though Arthur was of the opinion that Francis had no right to judge other's promiscuity. "He might be a bit pissed, but I'm not going to appologize or deny it. He'll get over it."

They were passing through busier sections of the university now. There were more people around, traveling between classes and grabbing late breakfasts. Again, the urge to pull Gilbert close pressed at him, but he resisted. It was way too early to show overt possessiveness in public.

Nodding at Arthur's response, Gilbert made a mental note to text Francis as soon as possible, hopefully he'd answer the text before running into Arthur. Better safe then sorry, he didn't think Francis would pick a fight over what he thought was a fling- lord knew Gilbert had had flings before. But still, Arthur was more of a friend to Francis then anyone else Gilbert had ever screwed around with. "Good. I don't care much about anyone else, but Francis and Toni, I'd rather not lie to them- and the chances of us keeping them from figuring out that something is going on is.. impossible."

He hesitated a little when they entered the more crowded area. Gilbert hadn't kept in mind that it wasn't as early as it usually when he was slipping back to his own dorm. He kept walking, but moved a bit closer to Arthur, crowding the alpha's space, though he tried to seem nonchalant about how he did so.

Arthur only knew Toni in passing and really was not worried about Francis. Though Gilbert was good friends with them, Arthur really didn't consider this to be their business ultimately. They may disapprove, but this wasn't up to them. It wasn't like he was doing anything wrong. He and Gilbert hadn't even had actual sex. And he wasn't using him for a cheap thrill either. He had nothing but the best intentions as far as Gilbert was concerned.

"I wouldn't feel the need to lie about us. Least of all to Francis. Nor to I feel the need to hide it. Of course, if you prefer discretion, I understand." He smiled to show that he meant that. Gilbert was closer to him now and Arthur removed a hand from his pocket and used it to take hold of Gilbert's. Even if he didn't want to seem overly possessive of Gilbert, a little hand holding should be alright.

He tensed just a bit as his hand was taken, but relaxed into the innocent hold. Gilbert tilted his head a bit, grinning a little. Discretion had never been his strong suit, he could be sneay, or he was out in the open, there were few things that could hide inbetween those options. "I don't think it's needed. I'm not very good at it anyway."

Soon enough they'd be at the omega dorms, and he wasn't sure that made him happy or sad. He kept holding Arthur's hand, when they entered a less crowded area, enjoying the feel of it. He liked this part, this warm safe feeling that he got just by Arthur walking next to him- he wasn't used to it, but it was certainly nice.

Arthur could be very discrete when he wanted to. But fact was that he didn't want to be in this situation. Not if Gilbert didn't feel the need for it. He squeezed the omega's hand. He could see the omega dorms ahead and he knew there wasn't much time left before their parting. God he was so ridiculous for being this attached after only one night.

"Well then, nothing to worry about then, right? If Francis asks about what happened, I'll just tell him. We went out to grab a bite since everyone else was out, we had fun, had a few drinks, and ended up hitting it off. Can he or Toni really object to that?"

His first thought was to respond with "Yes, they can.", but he didn't think it would be a wise response. Besides, Francis knew Arthur, and despite all the whining and bemoaning, had never said anything bad about him, not seriously, so Gilbert doubted he would start anything without talking to Gilbert before hand. And Toni would probably only step up to the plate if Gilbert really needed him to do so. And to be truthful, he really really hoped it wouldn't come to that.

When they got close enough to the building that Gilbert was starting to feel a little edgey, he stopped them. Slipping his hand a bit reluctantly from Arthur's, almost instantly wishing he hadn't. He turned to face Arthur better, tucking his hand into his pocket, "They could, but not without good reason."

It was the best he could think of off the top of his head. He offered Arthur a smile, it was somewhat weak, but all he could manage. "I can get the rest of way on my own, less fuss from the guard."

The current guard wasn't the one who usually gave Gilbert a lot of flack, but he wasn't really on good terms with any of them. Mostly because he'd been so quick to vouch for Francis being allowed up to his and Toni's room and they liked to think they could say no to anyone. "Friday. Right?"

Ignoring his own nervousness, he leaned forward, and gave Arthur a kiss on the cheek. It wasn't something he normally would have done, but it felt like the right move at the moment, and he didn't know what else to do. He didn't want Arthur to think he was having second thoughts- those would likely come later- but he also wanted to avoid an actual kiss on the lips if he could. Just for now.

He blinked in confusion when Gilbert stopped them. He let go of the omega's hand when he pulled away, a bit disappointed about that, but he returned the smile anyway, his every bit as weak as Gilbert's. Goodbyes like this were bound to be awkward, but what Arthur was hearing didn't make it better. Gilbert did know the other two better than Arthur did. Was he in for more than he expected? He was about to ask when Gilbert continued on, opting to continue the rest of his way on his own, and the moment to ask seemed lost. He held on to his smile, but it took effort.

"Yes, Friday it is," he replied, his smile forming more naturally at the kiss. It made the parting feel better. He reached out, taking loose hold of Gilbert's hand and bringing it to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to his knuckles. Cheesy, he knew it, but it felt appropriate. "I'll look forward to it. In the meantime, don't worry about Francis. I'll deal with whatever his reaction might be."

Gilbert couldn't help the blush that formed as Arthur kissed his hand. He was so far from used to such behavior and was unsure how to react to it. Drawing hand back a bit slowly, Gilbert's smile was more genuine and less nervous. He could have laughed at the idea of anyone 'dealing' with Francis' reactions to anything- but that would have been a stupid idea. "Alright."

He'd still make sure to contact Francis first- better safe then sorry. He was actually hoping Francis was in his room. "I'm sure we'll run into each other before Friday."

It wasn't uncommon, especially now that he knew he shared a class with the Alpha. "See you later, Arthur."

He turned a little, still somewhat reluctant to go, and began the walk to the dorms. His started running through everything he needed to do before Friday, starting with getting Antonio out of the room at some point so he could be alone for a while to think.

The blush on the omega's face was quite cute but Arthur knew better than to say so. He was grateful for it though. Sometimes he thought what he expected to be romantic gestures would just come off as sad and strange. Gilbert seemed to accept them, though. He smiled and waved as Gilbert turned back towards his own dorm. "Goodbye, Gilbert." He was sure that he'd see the other before their scheduled date. Maybe they could go for tea after their class.

He turned to head towards his own class, a bit of a bound to his step. It was going to be a good day. Francis or no Francis.

It turned out Francis wasn't at the dorm, a fact Gilbert wasn't happy with. Antonio was there, but he hadn't woken yet, so he had a while to himself. The first thing Gilbert did- after getting his glasses and dumping the clothes he'd worn the night before in the laundry bag- was grab his phone and text Francis to inform him that he and Arthur had spent the night together. After a while, as Gilbert was contemplating switching into some of his own clothes, he got a text back, and the two had a long conversation via text while Gilbert laid in bed, Arthur's shirt pulled up so it covered his nose and he could breathe in the alpha's scent with every breath, and Antonio continued to sleep.

By the time he needed to head out for class, Gilbert was exhausted all over again. He hated going out in his glasses, but his eyes were too sore for his contacts. So, grudgingly he went through with his glasses and ended up asleep. By the end of the day, the clothes had lost all of Arthur's scent, and he'd kicked Antonio out to do some hacking and video games to get his mind off what all happened.

Thursday he had a lot of classes, and had to skip the one he shared with Arthur because of a paper that had snuck up on him. He'd spoken to Francis in the morning, but the guy thought the whole thing was a joke, a one night stand and didn't think anything more of it. Gilbert was too pressed for time to correct his teasing, he'd do it later. He pulled an all nighter, and slept most of Friday away, waking up late in the afternoon with headache, but all his school work done and feeling insanely ready to see Arthur again.

His contacts didn't bode well with his headache, so he begrudginly opted for his glasses. Jeans, a t-shirt, his hoodie and sneakers, and he figured he was good enough for a night on the board walk. The only notice he gave to Toni that he was going out was a text message he left on the guy's phone, and a promise to come back that night- he didn't know if he'd keep it though and Toni was used to his habit of sleeping in odd places and not always coming home at night.

He waited for Arthur outside the omega dorms, far away enough from the guard to not be hassled, but close enough that the alpha would spot him when he showed up.

Francis proved to be quite the prat about the whole thing. Arthur was greeted with a text between classes asking him if he really spent the night with Gilbert. Arthur replied in the affirmative. An hour later he got a text congratulating him on making the dorm room smell like a brothel. He growled at the phone and tossed it to the bottom of his bag. Francis was not going to ruin his good mood.

He went to his classes as usual though it was particularly difficult to keep focused. His mind kept traveling back to the previous night. He wondered if things would have gone differently if he hadn’t drunk so much.. or if he had drunk more. He wondered if he had made the right choice to round a few bases with Gilbert but resist going all the way. Ultimately he thought it had gone right, but suspected that it had been a matter of luck that things had fallen into place as it had.

Francis seemed to have finished having his laugh by the time Arthur returned to the dorm. In a surprise movement, he’d even tossed Arthur’s sheets into the wash, something which made the Brit immediately suspicious. Francis just said he was tired of smelling sex that he had not been part of. He seemed to Arthur as if he might have more to say, but he didn’t mention the previous night again except to tell Arthur that he didn’t know what he was getting into. Arthur brushed him off.

He was disappointed not to see Gilbert in their shared class the next day. Well, disappointed wasn’t entirely the right word. Paranoid was more accurate. He worried that Gilbert had had second thoughts and now might be avoiding him and he fretted over it for much of the day. He had to resist the urge to demand Gilbert’s number from Francis to make sure they were still on for Friday. He reminded himself that Gilbert missing class didn’t mean he needed to worry. He probably just slept through or was working on something else.

By the time Friday afternoon arrived Arthur had lost much of the confidence he’d had the previous date. He was starting to think this was all silly. Gilbert wasn’t really the type to be interested in dating and if he was Arthur couldn’t be his type. Not a partier like Gilbert. Still… he wasn’t going to be the one to cancel or opt out. He dressed in black slacks and boots and a white button up shirt with a jacket over it since it was a bit cool out. He headed towards omega dorms, not sure what he was expecting, but felt his spirits pick up immediately upon seeing Gilbert waiting outside for him. He grinned and picked up his pace, half jogging out to meet the omega. “Hey! Good to see you made it.”

Gilbert offered the brightest smile he could manage. He hadn't had to wait long, which he was glad for, since he'd never been one to loiter out in the open by himself. He resisted the urge to fiddle with his glasses, trying hard not to look as uncomfortable with them as he was- or nervous about the date. He cocked an eyebrow at Arthur's words though, "Was I not supposed too?"

He knew he'd missed class yesterday, but they hadn't concretely made plans for that- and he would have contacted the Alpha in case he couldn't make the date.

He gave a small self conscious laugh and waved in an attempt to dismiss the awkwardness. "Ah ha well...I guess I'm just glad to see you didn't change your mind." It was hard to admit that worry had been present but he held his smile regardless. Seeing Gilbert here made him feel better. He was surprised to see the glasses. He hadn't know Gilbert needed them. They suited him well, giving him a bit of a cute look. He figured it would be rude to comment on them, though.

Shrugging, Gilbert slipped his hands into his pockets, "I would have let you know if I couldn't make it."

Picking up on the other's nervousness, and a little baffled by it, Gilbert offered a somewhat softer smile. "Francis didn't give you too much trouble, did he? I got a hold of him, I think before you ran into him."

He now knew he'd been silly, but it was hard to worry about it now that he was there with the omega. He returned the smile and shrugged. "Not more than usual. He seems to think this is a one-night stand that we're dragging out. But as I told you, I'm not too worried about his opinion."

Gilbert was not about to point out that Francis's oppinion meant a lot to him; since right now it really wasn't a serious one yet. He gave a short nod, and tilted his head a little, "Gut. Wanna head out?"

He knew that it was likely all paranoia, but it felt like they were being watched. Chances are the only one keeping an eye on them was the guard by the door a bit away- which at least meant they were doing their job.

He nodded and gestured with his head in the direction of the main road that went through the campus. He waited for Gilbert to move before taking his place at his side and matching his pace. "Its a bit of a ways there... Would you rather we took the bus or a cab?"

Gilbert turned and started walking, watching Arthur through the corner of his eye, trying to read him, but not having a lot of luck. He thought over the options for a moment, the cab would be faster, less crowded obviously, but the bus meant less alone time and it was cheaper. Making the bus seem somewhat safer for his uncertain nerves."Cab would be quicker."

Biting the bullet was likely better, so he did his best to not look like those words had come out of their own accord. The boardwalk would be crowded anyway, so it would be fine. "I can cover it."

He agreed that a cab was probably the best way to go. Less time standing around and waiting and it was a safer way to travel at night anyway. His gentlemanly upbrining didn't like the idea of letting Gilbert pay for it. Since Arthur had proposed the date he felt he should pay for everything. But it wasn't something he wanted to press. "Alright. I'll cover it one the way back then." He turned, offering an uncertain smile. "And I hope you'll let me buy you dinner? Even if it is cheap fair food."

He had enough money to cover himself pretty well, and normally he would have pressed to pay for his own food. He liked being able to do so, and usually felt better for it- but Arthur looked a little put off, so he bit the inside of his cheek, "Sounds like a deal." He hailed their cab, and slid in, telling the driver where they were going and relaxed a little when it started moving. A little uncertain, he didn't know if he was expected to do anything in particular- like the holding hands thing and all that, it came so much easier when he was still riding the high of Arthur's scent, now that he'd had time to clear his head and shove those pesky instincts back into their box, he was left feeling awkward and off balance.

Arthur was not entirely sure what to do himself. He'd never dated anyone seriously before and now they were passed that high of instincts and emotions that came with the first realization of mutual attraction it was harder to know what was appropriate and what was not. He figured he should give Gilbert a little space, at least to start. Even if, in the enclosed space of the car, Gilbert did smell really enticing. "So why did you miss class yesterday?" he said to make conversation. "Something come up?"

A little surprised, and a bit grateful Arthur didn't press for contact, Gilbert nodded and relaxed a little against the seats. He was trying hard not to focus on how close Arthur was- his scent was unavoidable in the car. He'd spent all of Wednesday with his nose against Arthur's shirt, and most of yesterday trying to ignore it, and now it was there, and part of him wanted to lean against the Alpha and soak in his scent. Which was not acceptable, by any means. "I forgot a paper I had to do, it snuck up on me, I guess. Usually I'm better about getting them done ahead of time."

"Ah," Arthur said with a knowing nod. "Makes sense. I've had to do that a time or two before." Now he felt even sillier for having worried the day before. He could let himself lose his confidence over every little thing. He leaned back in his seat and crossed his legs. "You didn't miss much. They just went over the text chapter. I can make a copy of my notes for you if you like."

Tilting his head a little, he looked at Arthur more fully, watching him seem to relax. He hadn't expected to have missed much at all, really. "That would be great, actually." He smiled, and let himself lean a little closer, being careful not to get too close. "Glad I didn't miss anything though... did you make it to that class you had Wednesday? I didn't make you too late?"

He took Gilbert moving closer as a positive sign and was more than happy to continue the topic if it meant breaking the ice. "I did. Wasn't even slightly late. And I've already caught up on the class I did miss from us sleeping in." He turned, facing Gilbert. "The glasses look good on you by the way. I mean, I'm sure you've heard it before. I didn't even know you wore them."

He felt a bit relieved knowing Arthur hadn't suffered because he'd taken the time to walk Gilbert back to the dorm. He didn't like to think himself a burden, especially to someone he liked. The switch in conversation through him a bit. Blushing, Gilbert reached up and fiddled with the glasses a bit awkwardly, "I was up most of last night, the glasses are easier on my eyes after all nighters." He explained, "But no, never been told that before... thanks." Most of his memories of comments towards his glasses were children calling him names or picking on him for them- they'd found better things to pick at him for.

The blushing really was cute. That combined with the glasses was almost enough to shatter Arthur's previously held view of Gilbert as a raging partier. It was incredibly endearing. "I find that hard to believe. They really do look good." He reached up and ran a finger along the arm of the frame. "Did you get any sleep at all?"

The blushed deepened as Arthur touched the glasses, but he felt somewhat proud that he didn't jerk away- which was his initial reaction when people usually reached for his face. He shrugged, letting his gaze move towards the front of the cab, "I slept through most of today. So I'm fine."

He gave a soft smile and withdrew his hand, his gaze remaining on Gilbert even as the omega looked away. "Good. I'd hate for anything to get in the way of us having a good time tonight. It's been a while since I've been to the boardwalk."

Willing the blush to fade, he shifted a little, and glanced back at Arthur with a slight smile. "Yeah..." He rested his arms on his knees, "Don't have much time for the boardwalk then?" Not that he'd been there too recently himself.

"Well you know how it is," he said, finally letting his eyes shift to the front of the cab. "Full time student. Demanding curiculum. Social life and fun take a backseat to all of that."

Gilbert actually only half knew what thag was like. He always made sure to have time for fun, but then he had two friends to help him make time and remember that it was important too. "That is true." They were coming up to the boardwalk, he could see it and he was rather relieved. "Maybe I can help with that."

Arthur laughed. He didn't doubt in the least that persuing a relationship would open up his social life. And probably hurt his grades, but he had a nice cushion on his GPA so he would be alright, he thought. Getting to know the omega better would be worth it. He saw the reflection of the boardwalk lights in cab windows and glance up. There were lines of games and concession stands, small restaurant booths full of greasy food, and a few rides dwarfed below the huge ferris wheel. He grinned in anticipation as the cab came to a hault. "Well, lets see how you are with that tonight. Your challenge starts now."

He arched a brow, glancing out the window as they came to a stop. Grinning, wide and amused, he nodded, "You may regret that, Arthur." He felt it was only right to inform Arthur of that, as he paid the driver. As soon as they were out, and the door was shut, he took hold of Arthur's hand, pulling the alpha a little as they moved into the crowd of people, his gaze darting over the different options, trying to decide where they should start.

He grinned as he stepped out of the cab, adjusting his coat. He really wasn't aware that the challange he issued would be taken seriously. He gave a small yelp of surprise as Gilbert grabbed him and started tugging him off towards the crowd. "Whoa!" He laughed though. He was thrilled that Gilbert was this enthusiastic. "We have all night you know. The boardwalk isn't going anywhere."

Once they were in a slightly thinned out part of the crowd, he relaxed, loosening his hold a little and slowing down, so he wasn't pulling the Alpha so much. He grinned at him, though he was fully aware, "You'd be surprised how short a night can be." Was his response, as he led Arthur further along, he had his eye on the rides further down. They didn't have the best, but Gilbert had a particular love for a medium, jerky rollercoaster that was best ridden before eating anything, he planned to ride it at least once tonight.

He pushed passed the crowd with Gilbert until it thinned out but held onto his hand still. Even as he saw the direction that Gilbert was leading him. His eyes widened as he saw the rickety old coaster looming ahead. His laugh turned a bit nervous. "Ahaha...Starting big, are we?"

He caught the look Arthur gave the rollercoaster. He wasn't surprised, the thing had seen better days, but it was safe, he'd been on it so many times he wasn't really concerned about it at all. "Always start with the rides." He stated coolly, giving Arthur's hand a jerk to pull him just a bit closer. Gilbert was more in his element here, he didn't feel as nervous, and he liked that something he'd done had thrown Arthur just a bit, he liked the control Arthur had offered by making that challenge, even if the Alpha likely didn't know what he'd been doing when he'd said it. "Don't like rollercoasters?"

He couldn't argue with the logic of doing the rides first. But Arthur had been thinking more of bumper cars and the like. This old think looked like a death trap. "Eh... I don't really have much experience with them.. but if you want." He certainly wasn't going to start the night by backing down from the first thing that Gilbert wanted to do. And anyway, this rollercoaster was a popular attraction so it had to be safe enough.

He arched a brow, trying to read Arthur. The other didn't seem even remotely as if he'd willingly get on this ride on his own, which did give pause to Gilbert's usually self-centered perception. He shifted his hand so his fingers twined with Arthur's, pulling him a little. "It's not as scary as it looks, promise." It was an older rollercoaster, but he'd never heard of anything happening on it that wasn't normal for rollercoasters- no deaths that he knew of, anyway. He looked around for the ticket booth, leading Arthur towards it now, pace slower. "But we can try some other rides first, if you want."

With determintion, Arthur put on a look of calm enthusiasm. "No, lets go. The line will only get longer as it gets busier out here. It.. it looks like it could be fun." Really Arthur still was not so sure, but Gilbert just looked so excited about the ride. "Here, I'll get the first set of tickets and you can get the next ones." Again, he would have prefered to cover all of the night's expenses, but that would be pushing things. He went up to the booth and bought ten tickets - enough for both of them to have a few rides.

Gilbert wasn't certain if he believed that, but if Arthur was going to pretend, then he wouldn't ignore it- besides, he wanted to ride the rollercoaster. It would be fun- and good to see how Arthur handled it. He knew he was a lot to handle, was pretty sure if he'd had a functional family and normal life he would still have been a handful, so it was important to see how Arthur worked with him right off the bat. This was a good start. He would have paid for the tickets all himself, but if Arthur wanted to, that was fine. He had to remind himself that he was serious about Arthur, not just using him to meet an end. When Arthur rejoined him with the tickets, he pulled the Alpha into the line for the rollercoaster, keeping an eye on him as he did so, "Alright, since I'm getting the first ride, you pick the next."

He was undoubtedly nervous as they stepped into line for the ride. These were bad enough during the day but the fact that it was night made it worse. He tried not to show his apprehension but his palms were still sweaty and he way noticably jittery. "Eh? Or right, yes." He'd almost not heard Gilbert in his own fretting. "Well, maybe we can try one of the games next? Ah.. the shooting gallery or the ring toss or the goldfish one... but then maybe we should put those off." He managed a cock grin. "I'm pretty good at those and if we play them too early you'll be carrying around your prizes all night."

Somehow, he wasn't surprised when Arthur opted to suggest a game rather then another ride. Gilbert grabbed the Alpha's other hand, and chuckled a bit, he was pretty good at the shooting gallery himself. Arthur didn't strike him as the type, but he was an Alpha and they were generally better at those sorts of things. "Goldfish game might be a bit cruel, to the gold fish." He intended to get on a few more rides other then this one, and it would get cold as it got later, "But I'd like to see your skills in the shooting gallery."

He gave a self conscious chuckle as Gilbert took his other hand but he squeezed it all the same. "Well, again that's why it might be best to wait on the games. I was on the marksmanship team at my boarding school, so I'd say I'm fairly good." He didn't want to brag, but it was true. He'd have ended up captain of the team if he'd stayed there. "And it would be kinder to the goldfish if he were liberated closer in time to our cab ride home."

Gilbert had been going to the shooting range for a while, he knew how to fire a gun pretty well himself. But he didn't think there was much point in mentioning that, he was dragging Arthur onto a ride the Alpha obviously didn't want to go on, so he'd let him have the shooting rang for now. "Boarding school, huh?" He followed the line closer, getting a bit excited as they neared the actual boarding section. "You'll have to show me just how good you are."

He smiled, finding the current conversation to be calming as it took his mind off the impending roller coaster ride. At least during those moments where they weren't interrupted by the screams of the ride patrons. "Ah well.... I haven't shot much recently. And I'm better with handguns than the rifles they are likely to have here. But I'll do my best and win something cute for you." He winked, teasing.

Not having expected Arthur to be into that sort of thing, Gilbert felt himself relax just a bit more. Maybe they weren't quite as different as he thought- or at least, they had one more thing in common. He found himself blushing at the teasing though, averting his eyes slightly. "Who knows, maybe I'll win you something." He grinned a bit, though worked to keep his tone just as teasing as Arthur's had been, not the defensive tone he might have taken with anyone else. It was there turn soon enough, and he was excited. handing over the tickets needed, and waiting for Arthur to do the same, before pulling him into a car in the middle. Gilbert usually rushed to get in front, but since his date was clearly still nervous he thought the middle would be better. He didn't tug Arthur into the car, but he slid into the seat and waited for him, once he was finally in, pulled the safety bar down, and hunted for his side of the seat belt.

Now that they were right at the front of the line and Arthur could hear the screeching of metal and the creaking of wood, it was harder to pay attention to anything else. He bit his lip and pressed on without too much hesitation. He handed over his crinkled ticket (he'd been clutching it) and followed Gilbert to the roller coaster car. He was glad they weren't sitting at the very front and he anxiously took his seat beside Gilbert. At least the safety bar was nice and tight. He mimiced Gilbert to find and connect his safety belt.

Once they were both settled, and waiting for everyone else, Gilbert leaned to be pressed a bit closer, "Want to hold my hand?" He offered, not knowing what else to do to help the Alpha calm down. It was odd, trying to think of a way to soothe Arthur, he doubted he could do much here. He made a note to try and tone it down for a while after this. Couldn't promise the whole night, but for a bit, at least.

He laughed nervously at the offer. What a way to start things out, with Gilbert feeling the need to comfort him. He slung his arm around Gilbert, holding tightly to him while his other hand already clung to the railing. "I'd like it like this... if that's alright?"

Somehow Gilbert didn't think that arm would stay there, but that was okay. He leaned into Arthur's side, gripping the safety bar with both of his own arms. "Ja, 'course." He watched the Alpha for a moment, before the man working the ride came around to check that they were buckled in safely, only looking away for a moment. The ride jerked into movement soon enough, and the telltale click-click-click was impossible to ignore, part of Gilbert thrilled at the feel of the ride finally moving. Before they could get to the top, he pressed a kiss against Arthur's cheek, "Relax."

It was nearly impossible for him to relax, but he attempted it for Gilbert's sake, giving him a nervous little smile. He really did not care for these sorts of thrills. His expression changed though, when he noticed something. "Ah! Should we tuck your glasses away? I mean, are they secure enough so you won't lose them on the ride?" For a brief moment of concern, he forgot about his own anticipation.

It had completely slipped his mind, since he usually didn't wear his glasses out unless absolutely needed. The roller coaster was jerky, but these glasses fit him well enough he didn't think there'd be too much cause for concern. They'd likely fair better on then they would in his pocket- and worse came to worse Arthur would have to help him out. "They'll be fine." He flashed a smile, and looked ahead of them, reaching one hand up to touch the hand on his shoulder. He pressed a little closer, and glanced at Arthur, "Might wanna hold on." They were at the top now, his hand moved back to the safety bar, and his smile shifted into a grin as they went over.

He did not look entirely conviced but he took Gilbert's word for it. Espcially since they were nearly to the top of the hill and panic was starting to stir inside of him, stronger now for having been mometarily forgotten. He gave a most un-alpha like groan and gripped tightly to both Gil and the safety bar. "Unnngh... If I die on this thing I'm really going to regret not having sex with you the other night...." he managed to mumble just before they went over the hill. He cringed, clinging to Gilbert enough for his fingers to leave marks as the coaster rocked and jolted and turned around it's sharp corners.

Chuckling as he caught the mumbled words, keeping his grin, and only tensing a little as the cart plunged down, and jerked from one corner to the next, up another hill and down again. He could feel the bruising hold, it kept him from sliding this way and that too much, but he didn't find himself, bothered by it much. He did, however glance at Arthur once or twice when he could, wondering how the alpha would handle him if he couldn't take a measely rollercoaster. By the time it slid back into place at the end of the ride, Gilbert was somewhat breathless, and highly amused, he stayed still as the safety bar unlatched, and waited for Arthur's hold on him to loosen up. "You alright?"

He was very happy when the ride was over. His heart pounded in his chest and his palms were so sweaty that he left a handprint on the safety bar. He opened his eyes when they rolled to a stop and finally let out the breath he'd been holding for most of the ride. "Ah... yes, fine, thanks..." And he was. It really hadn't been that bad. But this was far from his choice way to get an adrenaline rush. He breathed a sigh and let go of the safety bar but not Gilbert, turning to give the omega a shakey smile and peck a small kiss to his cheek.

Gilbert laughed a little at the kiss, and finally undid his seatbelt, pressing a kiss back against Arthur's cheek, figuring that was the least he could do after giving Arthur such a rough start. He pushed the safety bar away, and got up, stepping back to let Arthur have room to get up. "Something less terrifying now, right?"

He figured pretty much anything else this carnival had to offer would be less terrifying than that monster of a coaster. He climbed out of the car behind Gilbert, just a little shaky on his feet. "Yes well...I think after that I can handle most anything..." He hooked his arm with the omega's and walked with him down the exit ramp. "I don't have problems with all rides...just sudden drops kind of...unnerve me."

Chuckling, and patting Arthur's arm, he paused as they left the ramp, and glanced at Arthur, taking in the Alpha's expression, and pulls away, slipping his hand down to grasp Arthur's. "Ah, just the drops?" He arched a brow, "So, it's not the height?"

"Mostly the falling from them part..." he replied. "Even the speed and jerkiness isn't the issue. I've no problem with ferris wheels or horseback riding. Rollercoasters and other drop rides though...." He shuddered and squeezed Gilbert's hand. "Well...what next? Another ride?"

Trying not to laugh again, he gave Arthur's hand a squeeze, and instead lead him towards the games, "You wanted to try a few of the games, ja?" He thought it might be a nice in-between of the other rides and the rollercoaster, "We should at least look. It's been a while since I looked at the games."

He took comfort from the hand squeeze and smiled at Gilbert, nodding and going along with him in the direction of the games. "Oh, that should be fun. They're completely rigged half the time, but that's part of the challenge." He grinned. "Makes that cheap little fingertrap you win all the more precious."

Gilbert grinned, nodding, "That's true." He arched a brow, and leaned towards the Alpha a bit, letting their shoulders brush together, "Does that mean you plan on winning a fingertrap?"

He gave a snort of laughter like the answer was obvious. "Pick the prize you want, and I'll empty out my wallet to win it for you," he replied with a playful grin and an arm easily slipped around the omega's waist.

Laughing, he rolled his eyes, "Oh, but if you spend all your money doing that, however will you buy me dinner?" He teased, feeling oddly at ease with his side pressed lightly against Arthur's, the alpha's arm an comforting presence where it normally would have been frightening.

He laughed again, pulling Gilbert closer. "Alright, I'll put a few pounds aside for some corndogs and sodas, just in case." Another peck on the cheek. "Not that I'll really need to. I should be good enough to win something for you with plenty left over."

He blushed a little this time, but nodded, and looked around as they got to the games, leaning slightly to speak so the people running the games wouldn't hear, as if they didn't know the whole world knew about the games being near impossible to win if you aimed for the good stuff. "You haven't won anything yet, might not wanna get cocky and have to eat those words, huh?"

He was undeterred, leaning in as he responded, though it had nothing to do with the desire for privacy and everything to do with an excuse for being closer to Gilbert. "Find one with shooting or archery and they haven't made the game rigged enough to beat me." He was probably overselling himself. He was good with both those areas, but skill could only do so much against faulty guns and improperly strung bows. Still, he couldn't help his urge to show off a bit in front of the omega.

Humming, and looking around, Gilbert knew there were a few shooting games, when he had the spare cash he sometimes came down to play, he'd showed up an Alpha the last time, big burly thing that'd stormed off to sulk. "Well then, let's see how good you are." He pulled Arthur towards where the shooting games were. The prizes were all rather lame, of course, but whatelse could one expect? Even so, he supposed he wouldn't mind getting one if it was a gift. "Pick your poison."

Arthur followed Gilbert and looked with interest at the shooting booth. It was the standard fair, targets set up and cheap rifles that shot rubber pellets instead of bullets. Just looking at them, Arthur could tell they wouldn't shoot worth a damn. They were poorly cared for and ill-calibrated. But maybe he was good enough to compensate for that. He picked up the rifle and felt the weight of it in his hand, taking a quick peek through the predictibly off sight before the stand owner stopped him and said he had to play if he was going to fiddle with the guns. Arthur smirked and handed him a note, glancing around at the prized. "See any that you like, Gilbert?"

Gilbert watched him check over the gun, and slid a little out of the way to give him room, eyes scanning over the prizes, there was nothing particularly flashy that caught his eye, but he found something fairly close to the top prizes, and pointed it out, "Think you can win that?" It was round, and yellow, and he assumed it was chick, it was very cute- normally he would have bypassed it, but he had a weakness for cute, and if Arthur was gonna try anyway...

He glanced up at where Gilbert pointed and gave a soft smile. The chosen prize was rather...cute.... It was endearing that Gilbert picked it. "Alright," he said and gave a nod to the man running the game, an older alpha who was mated from the smell of him. "What's it take to win that one?" The carny wiped his nose on his sleeve in a rather gross way that mad Arthur wince and replied that it took 5 bull's eyes in a row or 15 all together. Since each game only got you three shots, he would have to play at least twice. Still, Arthur thought it was doable. "Okay, that's what we'll do then." He turned to Gilbert. "You want a shot, too?"

He tried not to pay much attention to the man running the game, Gilbert rarely paid too much mind to mated alphas. He hummed, and eyed the toy at the amount of shots it took to get it. Giving the rifle a once over himself, and giving a curt nod when Arthur asked, "Ja, I do." One shot was hardly enough to show off, but he could at least show he knew how to use the rifle.

Arthur hadn't meant to offer one of his own. Rather he handed over another one pound note so that Gilbert could play too. "Come on, lets see which of us gets the first bull's eye," he said. The carny scoffed, as if so long in this business that he didn't even bother to pretend the games weren't unfailry rigged. "Good luck to you, lads," he said.

Eyeing the carny for a moment, Gilbert picked up one of the other rifles, weighing it and checking it quickly similar to how Arthur had. He generally preferred handguns, the recoil from real rifles always annoyed him. This wouldn't be bad, but just holding the rifle up correctly made part of him want to tense away from a recoil that wouldn't come. He glanced at Arthur to see how he handled the gun, before taking aim himself, and firing. Almost hitting the bulls'eye, he clucked his tongue annoyed at his own miss, and reaimed.

He watched from the corner of his eye as Gilbert picked up his own rifle and checked it out for himself. It was obvious that it was not his first time handling one. Arthur aimed at his own and lined up the sight before firing. The shot from the gun was dull in comparison to what he was used to and the weight and recoil of it was all wrong. His shot was way off, only hitting the bottom ring of the target, but he hadn't been aiming for a perfect shot anyway. He merely wanted to see how off the sight was so that he could adjust. The carny chuckled as if this meant victory already. Arthur adjusted his shot and fired again, this time hitting the bull's eye right on the line between it ant the next ring. The carny huffed and mumbled something about that not counting, but Arthur was undeterred. He had a feel for the gun now.

Gilbert's only saving grace was that he had used these guns before. He was used to the real deal, and aiming them, but he did have a good grasp on these as well. Arthur's first shot was far off, and Gil waited to see the next, wondering if it'd be better. It was much better, and he gave a grin, rolling his eyes at the carny guy's obvious annoyance. Gilbert's next shot hit the bulls'eye, and he ignored the carny's obvious annoyance at that, waiting for Arthur to take his third shot, before taking his own.

He caught Gilbert's bull's eye shot and gave him an encouraging grin. Yeah, between the two of them they could clean this carny out of all his prizes. Arthur lined up his next shot and hit the target dead center, fully adjusting for the off weight and sight. Something the carny seemed to realize. "Well, that's one good shot. Enough to walk away with a nice little trinket and save you from blowing your wallet and embarassing yourself." Arthur gave him a very dirty look and dropped two more bills on the counter. "Thanks, but two more rounds is all I'll need. Gilbert, you want another round, too? You can get a pink chick to go with the yellow one."

Gilbert glanced up at the other other prizes, and shrugged, he pulled his own wallet out, paying for his own second round. "Sure." The carny gave him a quick dirty look, but Gilbert was not intimidated at all, alright wondering if they'd make it away from the game section at all. At this rate, he didn't think he'd mind really. Taking the newly loaded rifle, he took aim and shot another bulls'eye, giving the carny a cocky grin just to annoy him.

Arthur's next shot was a bull's eye, too. As was the one that came after. That was three of his needed five shots. As Arthur lined up for his throat, the carny went it a coughing spell that was quite obviously intended to throw him off. But rooming with Francis made Arthur very good at ignoring distractions. His fourth shot hit home too and he gave the carny a smug look. He glanced over in Gilbert's direction, looking confident, to see how he was doing.

Once he'd gotten that first bulls'eye on his second round the rest was nothing. He'd paused when he heard the coughing, glancing at the carny with a mild look of annoyance, but made the bulls'eye shot regardless. He was good at tuning things out, and this was no different. He made his last shot as Arthur looked at him, and with that had three bulls'eye in a row, and was rather pleased with himself. "Between us that makes seven, right?"

"Can't combine betweent he two of yah," the carny was quick to speak up. "Got to be individual." Arthur narrowed his eyes, liking the annoying alpha less and less and time went on. "We know," he snapped and lined up for his next shot. He hesitated a bit, knowing that if he took the shot while aggravated he'd likely miss. Last thing he wanted was to choke on the fifth shot. He took a deep breath and released it slowly before taking it. It was as good as the four that came before it. He gave a cheeky grin and set his rifle down. "That's one prize."

Rolling his eyes at the continued annoyance the carny proved to be. He set his money down, it seemed almost a waste for just one bulls'eye, but somehow worth it just to piss the guy off more. He made quick work of his three shots. Three bulls'eyes with hardly a pause between them, then set his gun down, looking quite amused, "Oh look, I'm back at seven."

He couldn't help but laugh. The smug look on Gil's face and the dumbfound look on the carny's was just perfect. But the shocked look quickly turned to one of angry annoyance. It set Arthur on alert. Many alphas didn't like being shown up by omegas and while Arthur didn't care that Gilbert had gotten more shots than he did, this carny looked far from pleased by Gilbert's cockiness. Arthur had a hard look on his face as he put his arm around Gilbert and eyed the carny, as if daring him to say or do anything. "I believe that entitles you to your pick of the prizes," he said. "As well as the yellow bird."

He wasn't bothered by the Alpha's obvious anger, in fact he'd expected it. And was ready for it too, if the Alpha wanted to fight, Gilbert wouldn't shy away. He'd gotten good at ignoring the instinct that told him too. He did tense a little at first as Arthur's arm slung around him, and it took him a moment to relax and lean into the Alpha, instead turning his gaze away from the Carny he'd yet to break eye contact with, and looking up over the prizes, "I think a matching set is a good idea." He pointed out a blue chick, and glanced at the carny as he went about getting the prizes, "I'm good with just those."

Arthur half wanted to demand a set of three. They'd earned it and the carny had pissed him off. But he resisted the urge, mostly because he both didn't want to start a fight this early in the night and because it might be difficult to carry around three of the stuffed birds. He gave the other alpha a cocky look as they accepted their prizes with a fair bit of grumbling on the carny's part. His smile softened as he turned to Gilbert and gave him a victory kiss on the cheek. "What next, hm? Hungry? Or more rides or games?"

Glad to have the prizes, Gilbert leaned slightly into the kiss, relaxing fully. He was done with the games, he thought, "How about a ride or two." He figured something like the bumper cars or ferris wheel, things less adrenaline pumped then their first ride. They had tickets to spend and time to waste, afterall. "Wouldn't want to waste all our money, after all."

Arthur, who had had his fill of games for the time being as well, was more than happy to turn from the gaming section and lead Gilbert back towards the rides, arm still around him. He looked around at the options before them. "Hmm... what about the swings?" he asked, giving a nod in the direction of the ride. "Or that boat one?" He nodded again, this time at a large boat shaped ride that swung from side to side. "There's a flume ride too.. though might be a bit cold still for that one."

Letting Arthur lead the way, Gilbert looked at the rides he pointed out, mulling over the chosen options, and giving a soft laugh at the mention of the flume, "The boat could be fun." He let Arthur continue to lead, "So, did you enjoy the game?"

"Hmmm, I did~," he answered playfully, smiling naturally now that they were away from the annoying carny. He nuzzled gently against Gilbert's neck. He lead them towards the line for the chosen ride, but took his time. "More importantly, how much did you enjoy showing up that git?"

It was odd, how he didn't feel the need to tense or shy away from the affection, in fact he really did find himself enjoying it. He couldn't return the nuzzle easily, instead kissing Arthur's cheek when he got the chance, and smiling a bit more softly then he normally would, something less false then his usual grins, "Oh, I always enjoy that."

He laughed again and his arm settled around Gilbert's as they got into line. "I had a feeling that was the case. And of course coming out ahead is always nice," he said, waving the stuffed bird in his hand. "With a couple nice tokens of the event."

Laughing a bit, he leaned against Arthur, grinning at the stuffed bird. He had to admit he had quite a weakness for the things, eventually Antonio would have to demand he got rid of some of them. "I feel bad for whoever tries that game next." He imagined the guy running it would give that person a lot more trouble. "So, where'd you learn to shoot?"

Arthur gave a half shrug. Putting they carny in such a bad mood would probably cause aggravation for the next person, but if the guy was an arse he would lose business, so that was his own fault as far as Arthur was concerned. "I was on the shooting team in secondary school. Rifles and pistols mostly. We won two regional championships while I was there." He was bragging a bit, but showing off was natural to an Alpha who had taken a shine to an omega. "What about you?"

Giving an impressed sound, Gilbert filed that information away to keep in mind later. It certainly adding a bit of character to Arthur's personality. "When my brother got out of military school, he and I started going to a shooting range." He tilted his head back a little, grinning, "We still go every now and again when we can get the time."

He smiled as he listened and gave a nod. "It's nice you and your brother get along well. I've never really been all that close to mine. I'm the youngest. They were all pretty much grown and gone by the time I came around."

"We weren't in contact for a long time, so we try to get along now that we can." He stated, not about it much, watching the ride as it slowed to a stop. "I didn't know you had brothers, how many?"

"Three..." he said with a slight tone of exasperation. "And a sister, but only half by my mum. They're all off doing their own thing. I only really see them around Christmas." The line started to move as people began filing onto the ride. "Do you just have the one brother?"

Catching the tone Arthur used, but not thinking too much of it, Gilbert couldn't even begin to imagine what it would have been like to have four siblings. He'd had a hard enough time keeping up with Ludwig, and half the time, Ludwig had played protector to him. "Ja. Just Ludwig. Und I'm the older one. I suppose that makes for a different experience..."

He nodded. "Likely...For all intents and purposes, I may as well have been an only child growing up." They were coming up to the front of the line but the ride had filled up so they would have to wait another round before getting on. "I remember your brother's an alpha. We've only got one omega among us, my second oldest brother. I should probably be glad that I didn't have to share a house with three older alphas growing up."

Frowning a little since they hadn't gotten on the ride this time, he clucked his tongue. "Ludwig and I weren't together much after we presented, only for about a year." Then he was off to foster homes and Ludwig to military school soon after that. "But he was never particularly bad or anything while we were together." He tilted his head a little, glancing at Arthur, "Was it hard having an omega out of your siblings?"

He kind of wanted to ask why Gilbert and his brother had been separated, but it didn't seem the moment. He filed the question away for later. "Siblings are rivals naturally anyway. Three alphas all fairly close in age was a nightmare to hear my parents tell it. They were always fighting for dominance or for a cute omega in the neighborhood or the like. My omega brother didn't get into as much trouble as them and frankly my parents babied him from what the others say. But he had a house full of alphas protecting him when he was shut away in his heat. That caused some fights in the neighborhood as well. The others chased away any alpha that came within view on the block. Most of the time the poor lump never even knew what he was being run off for." He chuckled.

Gilbert tried not to wonder what that would have been like, protected during those horrid days, or babied just because he was an omega, it was a sore subject. Instead he tried to think of Arthur chasing some poor slum off their yard, and snickered a bit. He grinned a little and arched a brow, "I'd say I feel bad for all those alphas, but that would be a lie. Did you get in on it too? Chasing them away?"

He gave a small wave of his hand. "No. They were all grown and gone by the time I presented. I think he had well enough protection though, with two rough brothers and a mean as hell sister to look out for him. I do sometimes wonder if they would have taken more interest in me if I'd been omega... but suppose that doesn't really matter. As it is all but my oldest brother are bonded and starting their own families. I'm an uncle three times over now. Brats, the lot of them, but family all the same." He smiled to show that he was kind of kidding.

He couldn't help smiling at that. He'd always wondered what it'd be like to have a big family, so it was good to hear that Arthur appreciated it, it was in his very tone. "I bet family get togethers are fun." He plucked at the chick plushie in his arms, "Ludwig and I have a few cousins who have kids, but they're not really related to us, so we never see them."

It sounded as if, other than his brother, Gilbert didn't have much in the way of close family. Again, Arthur wanted to ask more, but judging by Gilbert's body language and tone, it might be a sensitive subject. They were having fun and Arthur didn't want to inadvertantly ruin it by bringing up sore subjects. "The get togethers are few and far between. We're kind of spread out these days. We're usually good for once a year."

Gilbert nodded at that, he didn't know much about how families worked really, but that sounded normal. Francis and Antonio did the same thing with the family they were close enough to get together with. "Must be hard with school and all that." He turned his gaze back to the ride, watching it, then leaned against Arthur again, enjoying the closeness.

"I have school... they have their own families and jobs. Just how life works." He smiled softly and naturally as Gilbert leaned against him. Arthur still didn't understand why he was attached so quickly. He'd never believed when he was told by others that when you meet the right mate, you just know it. It had always seemed like rubbish to him. But no omega he'd ever dated made him feel like Gilbert did. He slipped his arm around the omega's waist and held it loosely. The ride was starting to slow, so soon it would be their turn.

Actively not thinking about how odd it was he felt so at ease with Arthur, Gilbert let himself relax against Arthur, enjoying the moment, and watching the ride as it slowed to a stop. As the gate was opened, he slid away from Arthur, taking hold of the Alpha's arm instead and pulling him forward, only letting go to pull the tickets out, and once that had been taken care of, he pulled Arthur with him up onto the ride. He wasn't as picky about where they sat on this ride, but since they were the first, he got them into one of the ends.

He was a bit reluctant to let Gilbert pull away, but the night was young and there was still plenty of time for closeness. He was a little anxious about the ride, but in a good way, unlike the roller coaster. It had been a while since he'd been on a ride like this. He joined Gilbert in the end seat and pulled the bar down snuggly over their laps. "Here we go." He smiled and slipped his arm around the other again.

Once the bar was down, and Arthur's arm was around him again, he leaned closer, watching others fill in the other seats. "After this, we should probably get something to eat." He wasn't particularly hungry, but he'd like to get that out of the way, and maybe walk around a bit. This closeness was oddly nice, and he figured he could enjoy it better without the rides.

Arthur was not especially hungry either, but if Gilbert wanted to eat, they would eat. He smiled and nodded. "Alright. We can do that. I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing a beer, too." Beer was still not his drink of choice, but he wasn't going to find anything stronger here and besides, he didn't want to get sloshed like the last time. He hugged Gilbert a little closer to him as the ride started, swinging and steadily picking up speed.

A beer sounded really good, though he had a moment of wondering if drinking was a good idea, seeing how it had landed them in Arthur's bed last time. One couldn't hurt too much though. Taking the excuse to lean into the alpha, one hand grasping the safety bar. "Not as bad as the rollercoaster?"

He shook his head and gave another smile. "No. Rides like this aren't so bad. No jostling about. I actually kind of like these." The ride was picking up speed, wind blowing in their faces and ruffling their hair. He couldn't help but watch Gilbert's white hair flutter around his face.

Chuckling a bit, Gilbert turned his face against the wind. He preferred his rollercoasters to this, but this was alright too. The swinging motion of the ride didn't give him the same thrill as the jerking and sharp turns and steep drops of the rollercoaster. He leaned against Arthur a little more as the ship hit it's highest peak.

The sensation of rising and falling was rather pleasant. Arthur liked the way it made his stomach feel all floaty and full of butterflies. But then, the omega's proximity might have had something to do with that as well. He theld him tightly as the ship swung. From there seats they were facing straight down as the ship peaked. A few more swings, and it began to slow, each pass lower than the previous until it stopped completely and they heard the click of the lap bars unlocking.

A little disappointed as the ride slowed to a stop, Gilbert shifted a bit closer, pressing their sides close together, until it came to a stop and the bar clicked. He was a bit reluctant to pull back or get up, but he pushed the bar over their heads, and got up, rolling his shoulders, and grinning at Arthur, "So, food and beer, then, ja?"

They ride had been rather short but Arthur did enjoy it. He held onto Gilbert until the other lifted the bar and then reluctantly let him go as they climbed out of their seats. "Yes, sounds marvelous." He took Gilbert's hand and walked with him down the exit, steering them towards the food and snack stalls. "There's a really good fish and chips stand here. They don't skimp on the vinegar, so it's really delicious and goes great with beer."

Letting himself be steered, he looked over the stalls that came into view as they moved through the crowd, reaching up to push his glasses back up his nose, giving Arthur's hand a small squeeze, "Sounds like a good deal." He grinned a bit, and let his side press against Arthur's a few times as they walked. "Been there a few times?"

"Mmm a few," he said, loving the way Gilbert kept close to him and squeezed his hand. "I grew up around here so I've been coming to the boardwalk since I was a kid. Every once in a while me and a few others from the literature college will come here for a break and cheap food." There was a short line at the fish and chip stall and Arthur lead them into it. "They serve the food the traditional way, in newspaper, so it's nice and portable. We can take it with and have a walk down by the shore."

Gilbert still never got the appeal of fish and chips done the 'traditional' way, but he'd never complained about it- it was easy, at least. And a walk on the shore sounded rather good. "Didn't know you grew up around here." He grinned a little, thinking of Arthur as a kid enjoying the thrills of the boardwalk. It was cute. Really cute. "You didn't wanna go to a school that was further from home?"

"I did in fact go to another school. I was in boarding school. But I still came back here for summers and holidays and such. Which was the best time to come to the boardwalk." They reached the front of the line and Arthur orderd fish and chips with a beer for each of them.

Gilbert's eyebrows raised a bit at that, he supposed that made sense. Arthur seemed the type that would have gone to a boarding school. Waited for the food, remembering Arthur offering to pay for the food, and he was never one to turn down a free meal. He took the fish and chips as it was brought out, and one of the beers, balancing them pretty easily. As soon as they were away from the stall and the crowd of people surrounding it, he glanced over towards the dark of the beach, "To the shore then, ja?"

He paid for the meal and took his drink and food from Gilbert, nodding in response. "Yes, sounds good. The moon is full so it shouldn't be too dark. It's a very nice walk, with the breeze from the water." He smiled and took his first sip of beer, letting out a small 'ah' of satisfaction as he began leading them down.

Gilbert followed closely, pausing one for a moment when they stepped in to the sand, he stayed close as they moved further from the boardwalk, eyes glancing towards the dark shadows beneath the boardwalk. The moon could only touch so much. He took a sip or two from his beer, and relaxed a little at the familiar flavour.

They walked slowly, Arthur picking at his fried food and sipping his beer. They were silent for a bit, just enjoying the walk and the feel of the sand and rocks under their feet. Arthur was the one to break the quiet. "So...How much slack did you catch from Francis when he found out about...well...us?"

Glad to have Arthur break that silence, Gilbert turned his full attention back to the Alpha, smiling, "Ah... Well..." He had a feeling Francis hadn't yet to set in on him about this, assuming it would be a fling, and part of Gilbert wondered if that was all it was destined to be. "Not too much. I don't think it's settled in his mind yet." He sipped at his beer again, "I think as far as he's concerned, this is a joke."

Arthur gave an awkward smile and soft shake of his head. "Yes... that's the impression I've been getting from him as well. Like he doesn't think we're at all serious." His smile fell and his lips pressed into a thin line. For a moment, he said nothing. Then he raised his eyes and looked at the omega. "I am serious. I want you to know that. In...in case there was any doubt."

Watching that smile fall, he felt a little bad. He wanted this very much to be serious, but there was still that voice in the back of his head telling him to get away now, before it was too later. Gilbert's expression was carefully blank as Arthur looked at him, looking over the Alpha's expression, and taking a second to fully analyze his words, and try to read into it as much as he could. Finally, Gilbert tilted his head a little, "I never thought you weren't, Arthur." He thought for a moment of telling Arthur he was barking up the wrong tree, Gilbert had never been in a serious relationship, those were dangerous. But... he was having fun, and he had yet to feel threatened by Arthur in any way, "I wouldn't have said yes, otherwise."

His lips quirked into a soft smile again, but it was somewhat half hearted. He was glad that Gilbert believed him and didn't think Arthur was in this for just a fling. But he hadn't heard what he really wanted to. That Gilbert was serious too.He resisted the urge to sigh and tried to not take it to heart. "Well... I'm glad that you did say yes." Balling up his now empty newspaper and shoving it into his pocket for until he came across a bin, he reached over to put an arm around Gilbert again. He gave a hopeful, optimistic look and pressed a chaste kiss to Gilbert's cheek.

Sensing he hadn't given the answer Arthur wanted, Gilbert tried to think over what had been said and understand the answer he was supposed to give. He leaned into Arthur, and let him kiss his cheek, before turning and pressing a quick kiss to the corner of Arthur's lips, "I wouldn't have said yes if I wasn't serious." He could feel a blush forming as he admitted it, and part of him didn't like that admission, but it was out, and he would stand by it. It was true, he supposed, he liked Arthur, didn't want to use him or hurt him like he might have other Alphas.
